OK We are ready to install a 37" plasma. As soon as we can find one. Some sales people say they cannot be put into a horisontal position. Others say yes. One told me only certain ones could go above 5600 feet elevation without possible damage. Who do you believe? Who has installed one & with what results? Has anyone delt with WWW.PLASMADEALS.COM Thanks C Ray |

CRay, I was just doing a search for the same thing. I don't know about the altitude and horizontal question but I was looking for a motorized bracket to fold it up to the ceiling. I found a bunch of info here, http://search.dogpile.com/texis/search?q=plasma+tv+monitor&cat=web&top=1 but not my bracket. Mike |

Ray, here are some links for TV's and mounts. I have the 42 inch from Costco and it is great. Have not put it in the bus yet though. http://www.peerlessindustries.com/ http://www.hookedelectronics.com/index.html http://www.costco.com/frameset.asp?trg=subcat.asp&catid=79&subid=2341&hierid=3314&log=&NavTop= Richard |

Another source for info on plasma monitors is www.dell4me.com click software & peripherals then search for plasma. Alot of technical info is readily available. I recently toured a Featherlite Coversion Dealer (new starts at $1,300,000.00. These coaches have 3 42" plasma screens.. 1 over drivers seat, 1 in bedroom and one in a bay on a slide out bracket.... For people with more money than brains :-)... If anyone wants to donate one, I'd be happy to install it in my coach :-))))))))))))). |

I have heard from an Amateur Radio operator that the plasma screen monitors are terrible noise generators in the high frequency radio spectrum. This would cover the CB radios that some people have in their vehicles. There could be some other emissions in the higher frequencies also but the operator did not mention them. Supposedly the person with the plasma monitor called the manufacturer and was told it wasn't their problem anymore as he had purchased it. It was now supposedly his problem. I think that might not be entirely true but getting around a big company can be a problem. |

I would recommend ignoring everything the salesman says when it comes to this kind of technical detail. Check the mfr's Web site, read the warrantee and call the mfr if necessary. If you call, you'll probably have to escalate the call past tier 1 tech support to someone who is really familiar with the design - if lucky maybe even an engineer. For the price of plasma screens, I would certainly not risk voiding the warantee based on what a salesman says. Scott |

Checked on some of the web sites today. In talking to them on the phone several differant web sites have the same mailing address. Isn't that interesting. C Ray |

I visited the www.cnet.com site today to get a rating on a printer and see they are also testing plasma tv screens. |

I read both the Sony and Panasonic warranties; both do not warrant for use above 5000 feet. Don't know specific language of other makes. Additional concern I encountered; 400 watt power consumption. I'm now back to my original thoughts; they are still "in the future" stage. As Scott says, never rely on what some salesman tells u. I know that the high end Prevos have them, but hell, at 1.3 mil I could afford to replace a few of them now and then if I had a really irate customer. All that gets figured in at the point of sale, which might explain the extreme escalation of prices in high end conversions over the past 3-4 yrs. |

You might think about an LCD instead. Both Sharp and Zenith have 30"+ LCDs with 170 degree viewing angles. Hard to imagine that, in a coach, you could get far enough out-of-line with a modern LCD to give plasma that big an advantage. LCDs are more durable, don't have the altitude issues, can be stored horizontally, and use only about 1/4 the power of plasma displays. Of course, if you are set on 42", I think plasma my be your only choice. -Sean |
