I came across a rearend last week with a model number that might be of interest to Fred and his VL100. It is not a dropbox but staight in, with the pinion in the upper right hand quadrant not far from center. Outside flange diameter 17 1/4 inches Bolt diameter center 15 inches Distance from banjo to center of U joint cup 14 inches. 14 mounting bolts with 2 centering bolts and 8 bolts mounting for pinion. Made by Rockwell no R164WX10 Ratio 3.7 Fred I could not find the post where you had been discussing this,but hope this might be of use. Joe. |

Thanks for the info. We have decided to continue the repair , like an Eagle , a couple of hundred feet of tubing is needing replacement , even before engine mounts could be created. Most rust is on the belt-line above the bay doors and below the windows. When the swop is running , during the test miles there is a good shop in Fr Meyers that should be able to recognize the rear , and locate a 3.07 pumpkin , our current first choice. With 3,07 rear in OD (and low rolling resistance tires), good mileage should be possible , and in direct we should be able to handle a 10,000 lb boat trailer . We will be installing Air Tabs too.
