What can be used to keep a one piece door from opening to far and breaking the window on a mirror. I have searched but no luck. I thought about a screen door chain but hoping to find something better. Thanks |

Wayne; I knew of a man who took a seat belt and fastend to the hinge and the body behind the interior and was never seen. He folded the belt in a V shape and drilled and tapped the hinge arm and fastened it to the dash framework and worked great. Gomer |

Wayne, If you have ever looked over a cobra replica they use a leather limiting strap on the doors. Might be able to purchase just the strap from a company like factory five. www.factoryfive.com If you look in this pic you will see a limiting strap on the passenger door http://www.factoryfive.com/roadster/photo/nate/newgallery/INTERIOR1.jpg |

I used a modified door stop from a car and mounted it in a angle iron fixture. Was some work but it has the spring loaded roller arrangement that slows the door rate and gives a couple of detente options as well as the ultimate stop at the 90 degree point. I used one from a VW Beetle only because I have one of those and could look at it before I chased one of these down. A better one would have a longer tongue on it for a wider opening door. I actually had to fabricate a tongue to give be the exact length and detentes that I needed. Good luck! |

I used a nylon strap from an early 90's chevy van rear door stop. Black nylon about 2" wide with a metal "U" sewn into one end which I bolted to the door frame. The other end has a removable pin in the piece that I bolted to the frame of the bus. Works great, simple, flexible, and I can remove the pin if I need more than 90 deg door opening. |

I used some kevlar type material that is used to cover hydraulic hoses, it works great, I had the same problem. I had one strap, then added another and doubled the thickness. The straps just have enough flex so it's not a hard stop. I have yet to make a cover, but have the material to match the vinyl on the door. I boke two entrance door glass, sure hope there's not a third one in my future. |

Wayne, I use the Jeep door straps and hardware from a Wrangler and use 4 they are thin enough and strong enough to hold the door with out causing problems when shutting the door good luck |

I just went to tractor supply and got a 2" nylon strap and made some holders out of a couple of pieces of brass I had laying around This works very well. I hope the picture comes through. Prather |

Wayne, here is what I came up with when I made my one piece door for my 05 Eagle. Here is Tom Hall's web site and the article I wrote on building a one piece door. Maybe U can find something that will be helpful. http://users.cwnet.com/thall/one_piece_door.htm If I can be of any assistance feel free to contact me.
