Has nayone used the Vinyl wrap on a bus like the transit people use for advertising? I have been thinking about checking into it since the graphics and options are limitless. Seems like a good idea and I don't think it would be too expensive. Anyone know of prices, pros and cons, durability or any general information? Would like other opinions before I jump into doing this. I have several graphic designs I will be posting on a web site soon for different paint schemes. |

I'm sure the material and technology has improved, but my Grumman 870 had been vinyl ad wrapped for a Bay Area radio station in 1990. I bought it in '95 and it was in pretty bad shape with bad scratches, tears, and checking on the upper half where it was most subjected to sunlight. It was also a bear to remove. Most strippers would not touch it, razor scrapers and heat guns finally did it, but it was slow and tedious. Then came the adhesive residue, which was messy to remove. I would much prefer a good urethane paint job, which is what the bus now has. |

I have thought about using vinyl for my graphics and did some research. All the vinyls I found have a five year warranty.I spoke to a company here in Phoenix and he would not recommend it unless the coach is going to stored inside.I plan to full time in my coach,so I will pay the extra for paint graphics which should outlast vinyl three to four times. |

I also purchased a Flx Metro wrapped with Vinyl... It was a Dog Track Ad and was really in pretty good shape even after almost 5 years wrapped... Really protected the paint... The vinyl is very difficult to see through on the windows. I've though about it, but tend to agree with jamxwell above... Good paint will last for lots of years to come. The vinyl is a pain to get off.... To jamxwell... I'd love to see some pics of your Flx... please email me keith"at"myappraiser.org. Website is www.myappraiser.org/bus. |

Great pictures! Even with a firehose I would have been hesitant to even tackle the inside of that bus! DIRTY! Did you burn your clothes afterward? |

Didn't quite have the burn the clothes... but the fire hose has come to mind :-) Possible a 2 1/2" Line :-). It actually cleaned up quite well.. I still have to pressure clean it though. |

Hello all I have been in the autobody trade for years. As far as using vinyl over paint, I would use paint as it will last alot longer. The vinyl breaks down and starts to crack. To remove old vinyl use boiling hot water and it will peel right off. If I was going to stip a bus I would find an old steam genny and blow it off with that. To remove the adhesive that is left behind use dupont 4105 wash and wipe and a rubber squeegy. Just my thoughts. Have a Happy New Year all |
