Devil's advocate... why do you need to tarp it?

If you are hell bent to cover it...

Big tarp from the building supply/big box store?

And a bag of proper rubber bungee cords, not the colorful civilian crap, the black trucker ones.

Keep in mind some air circulation, so having the bottom stand off, fastened to the fence/cement blocks/ whatever it takes to keep it tight but open to breath.

happy coaching!

I have used cover in NH for two winters and it does a good job. Got it from Sam's Club. It has good ventilation and access zippers all around. The top is fully waterproof and the sides breath and don't retain moisture. Its rip-stop material and is holding up pretty well.

Only issue is when snow melts water can collect in pockets and freeze inside the 'Goat Rails" on our Wanderlodge. To overcome this I have about 7 3' exercise balls that I run along the roof under the cover to create a ridge. Pretty much takes care of it.

This year, I came up with a better idea... heading south!

I'm not a fan of tarps on vehicles (even though I have one on my GTO)
With any wind blowing the tarp you get rub marks. There is just no way to secure a tarp from moving on a windy day, and with your solor panels you do not want anything causing rub/scratch marks on them.

Hello Thomas,

I did not notice you were in NH. We are in Manchester but we spend a fair amount of time near you in Franconia Notch State Park. In fact, we had a Bird rally up there a few weeks ago and 12 coaches showed. Too bad, you could have stopped by if you were in the area.

http://casabillisa.posterous.com/franconia-notch-nh-birds-and-bears-rally-09-2

Back to the cover issue. The cover we got from Sams has not in any way scuffed the paint or finish. If anything it buffs it. The only thing I have to be careful of are sharp angles like the gutter ends, overhead AC condenser, goat rail ends. These, I simply pad and that's it.

Look forward to meeting you sometime.

NH Bill

mine is still not quite ready for her maiden voyge yet,i still have to fiddle with the placement of the drivers seat as my legs are not long enough when the seat is up and when the seat is lower i cant see past the sterring wheele.also have to get seats put in for the baby and mommy, and have leaks in 2 airbag lines and coach looses all pressure over night...that just may be because i have her hooked to my compressor as to not piss off the neighbor by starting the coach all the time.

build a green house with woven poly,
. use rebar made into hoops, buried in the ground , also bury the ends of the plastic in a trench, cover the rebar with poly pipe or foam pipe rap insulation for maxium life from your woven poly.

- As it is actually a temporary tent , you likely need no permits .

Putting the cover on our coach is not difficult and I can do it alone. This is largely because I can walk the length of the roof on the diamond plate aluminum deck.

I start by preparing the cover on the ground so it rolls from stem to stern. I carry it up the ladder at the aft end in a cradle fashion. Admittedly, this is a bit awkward, but doable. Bring it to the front and unroll the first 15 feet or so and let it down over the front and sides. Insert big balls to form ridge and continue the process to the back. On the ground, I make sure all chafe points are covered, then zip it closed. Finally I use the lash nylon cord through grommets at the bottom of the cover and criss cross them under the coach leaving enough slack so it is not taught and allowing room to access the door for relatively easy access. Thats it.

NH BIll

Just realized that photo is without the balls under the cover.

That sounds like a good system, unfortunately my 4104 top is rounded and it is suicidal to even attempt to walk around on it!!

You could consider heat tapes on the roof to keep smow melted off when needed. Or, make yourself a short cover that only goes down to drip rail.

NHBILL I am in Ocala which is off I-75 if you come that way, however you will probably go I-95 to I-4 and go across that way. Any who, if you do come this way give us a shout.

Every time i have ever purchased a rv cover, it was decimated by spring. I usually put a cheap tarp on it now and lasts a couple of years.

I think the main reason sticks and staples motorhomes are covered in the winter is that their roofs eventually start to leak. It's one of the reasons I sold my motorhome and bought a coach.

Just my opinion.
