Hey Guys -

It's gettin' chilly "up" here in NC. Season's over and not much going on music-wise. Playing some gigs for these marines - terrific guys and lotsa fun but no bread in the 'ol cookie jar.

And 'fun' won't fill the tank.

Besides, I'm wearing out my welcome - they hate when girls beat them at pool. Golleee, guys take everything so SERIOUSLY. :-)

Anyway, gonna pull the pick, start the donk and sail south - still (and forever) my preferred direction.

Probably come back here next season - I have a good shot at playing the Sheraton and some other 'touristy' places - but tourists are in short supply until April.

Meantime, eating would be really nice.

I'm thinking Florida (Oh, gee, Nellie, what a surprise!) and afterwards Texas. But Florida's probably better, since I play all these French songs - and your average Francophone isn't exactly champing the bit to winter in, say, Luckenbach.

Plus I'm playing Jack's Arcadia Rally the end of December, so I can't get too far afield.

Besides, I don't play a fiddle... and we all know what Texans think about that!

So bottom line: I need a place to park and a club to play (restaurant, bar, or whatever). No commitment required... if I don't hold the crowd they can boot my butt out the door.

If anyone's got any suggestions - or hooks or connections or the stray marker to call in - give me a shout?

(Sorry for my unusually short post):-)

Nellie Wilson

Nellie...

There's always tourists here in Shreveport... Casinos and such ya know...

Maybe call around to some of the local casinos and see what they say? They're always looking for something new...

I can't offer much in the way of a place to stay though... The back yard would welcome you as long as it hasn't rained, and... well... it's now the rainy season. heh. But... there's a dead end just down the street that I parked on often too, and if all else fails, there's plenty of walmarts and shopping mall parking lots around! :-)

I was supposed to be in NC this weekend to get my bus, but... that fell through. Not enough $ for the fuel to get there and back, so... two more weeks. It'd be nice to meet ya though if you're through Shreveport/Bossier sometime though. :-)

Hey Mac -

That's kinda on the way when I head for Texas. But, like you, fuel cost is my enemy right now.

But a bunch of you guys sprecken le français, no?

Where in NC are you headed? I'm at Cherry Point Marine Base... gimmee a holler.

Go get your bus, Mac... you'll be a happier man.

I can't get the bus for at least another two weeks... no money for the fuel. x.x

Some of these folks around here speak Cajun French, but I'm certainly not one of 'em. I'm originally from Minnesota!

But, when I go to get the bus, I'll be headed to China Grove, NC. :-)

Hello Nellie I was thinking playing music, tourist,
and making a buck and the only place that comes to mind is Helen Ga. It is a Bavarian themed town with several nightclubs/resturants with live music. Right now Octoberfest is going on with drinking, parting etc. There are several campgrounds local to the area. Also about 27 miles south is Gainesville Ga. with several clubs that is a possibility. All north of Atlanta, GA
with that great north Ga, hospitality. If I can be of any help give a shout.

Nellie,
You're in my neighborhood. Have you tried the bars/clubs in Beaufort? How close do you need to park to where you are working? If I can help, call me three forty two-thirty two 0 two.

Hey guys, thanks for the tips.

I expect I'll get back to you (probably by email?) when I'm closer to leaving.

Art: Yes, I've heard Beaufort was a good possibility - a couple different people were gonna take me down there, introduce me around. Never happened. But since I'm still here, I'll take you up on that offer to call. Even if it's too late in the year(?) maybe I can set something up for next season.
