i need to drain all the water out of my system but dont see a drain from the hot water heater, any ideas? i did find a main drain before and after the water pump and left them wide open to drain but cant be sure the hot tank also drained.

What model is the water heater? I take it you are referring to a domestic HWH. If so there is normally a drain, a plug or an anode near the bottom of the unit which can be removed for draining. HTH...Tim

More than Likely its an RV heater, it will have a plastic plug at the bottom or an anode rod that will look like a metal plug from the outside.>>>Dan

Many folks will install a heater bypass kit ($15 or so) that allows the HW heater contents to be drained , as the FW system is filled with RV antifreez.

In really cold weather this is safer than simply blowing the FW system out.

Be sure to get pink into the sink sprayer or it will freeze . The sink traps will also need a splash .

Da DD Book has all the info on , "out of service for over 30 days".
