Hey all. I am rebuilding the rear floor in the aft bedroom over the trans and dropbox and just noticed that from the engine to the front defroster there are no less than 11 90degree elbows and one 45 in 3/4 copper.ONE WAY!!! I am pretty sure i could eliminate about 8 (or 16) of those by running pex or rubber hose. I also would probably go up to 1" while i was at it. I am unsure of any drawbacks to this, i am sure i can route these to be free of chafe. Maybe antifreeze incompatibility with pex? Any ideas, comments or words of wiz-dumb please let me know. Mean while back to the bus. must not watch ball game Thanks dave |

Tom, i have i no idea for a new bus like yours! Our bus has 2 isolation valves in the rear that shut off the coolant going foward in the summer. Then i just have a fan switch for the heater defroster. You need to get a operators manual that will show you all the bell ande whistles or take a picture or ask some of the GM guys. Lots of 06 guys on this board. Is it by the door close handle or on the other side of the wheel? Look in the back for 2 valves from the engine going thru the bulkhead foward. |

David you could probably finance the project by selling the Copper! Not sure if I would use larger than 1/2" due to the large volume of pipe that would then have to be filled, though it would probably be a short enough run to not matter. I made the mistake of using 3/4" pipe in a house once. It took longer to get hot water through the 3/4" inch line, but without any appreciable difference in flow volume or pressure. |

I was thinking larger diameter less flow restriction. before the repower it had 3/4 running fore and aft, maybe i willl just stick with that. I am waiting to hear if auto antifreeze will be ok in the pex. |

I used pex in my webasto/engine coolant system and it's just fine after 2 years. |
