I though this was interesting. The bus was never a hound. Sold new to Tom T Hall.

Interesting.
That engine color looks to be the incorrect shade of green. Detroits don't run well if of the improper color. Could be the photo color rendering. Some will say it should be Alpine green with an overspray of dirt and black oil.

Gosh John -

Too true, too true. Detroit folks are funny people, eh? Kinda like the diehard Harley crowd, we love our old oil bleeders.

If I had 30K burning a hole in my pocket I'd go buy it - nice to see another bus with a 'Nashville' destination sign.

I have seen so many of these over the years. Sellers try for additional value because the bus once belonged to a celebrity. It's really just another beat up old bus, rode hard and put up wet.

Unless it belonged to Elvis, it has no additional value because of it's history.

Auction ended with no bids. Bus has been relisted with another decrease in price:

They've now come down $12K in price since originally listing the bus... I wonder how much lower they will go... surely they can do better than $18K!!

It's a nice coach, but given that it will need a paint job and an interior face-lift/ gut job, I still don't think it's worth what they are asking... I can't tell from the pictures, but is there even a kitchen or shower facilities on it? The only things I could see were a toilet and a refrigerator.

Oh well...I'm sure it will make someone happy!!

Can't comment on anything here with much authority but I do know that Tom T. is meticulous about taking care of his stuff. Didn't know Vern as well, but I came away with the same impression from him.
I do remember running into Vern in a truck stop in Ohio a few years back. Well, probably 20 or 25 years ago. This indeed looked like the bus I see and I must say that Vern, albeit a bit worse for the wear shall we say, took time to check the oil prior to getting back on the road. I'll call T. tomorrow and see what he remembers about the bus. I recall that he bought a new Eagle probably in the early 80s which he sold a few years ago so it would follow that Vern owned the bus a far amount longer than did Tom T. I recall thinking at the time that whoever got T's Eagle ended up with a bus that had been well cared for.
Not that I'm particularly interested in this one given that I think I can get a better deal on a '76 buffalo I've been looking at - and which I suspect I'll be worrying these members about in view of my limited understanding of these matters. Be an interesting conversation piece but I doubt worth the premium that seems to be apparent. Either Tom T. or Vern got a bus from George Jones, so I don't think this is a first bus for at least one. I do think I remember Tom T. telling me about the bullet holes in the Jones bus. Or maybe it was Vern who told me that. Maybe T. can clear this up for me as well.

Just to clarify, I'm not doubting that T. bought the bus new and later sold it to Vern. I'm just suggesting that this may not have been either's first bus.
