Hey everyone, Some people winter in warmer climates...well I went all the way this winter, courtesy of my Uncle Sam. My reserve unit was mobilized and I'll be here for who knows how long. I had to put my pride and joy away for several months while I'm away. Real sad putting the fuel stabilizer in and disconnecting the batts. It's nice to be able to at least check with my wife and kids on a pretty frequent basis and of course read the board. This dial up thing is soooooooo slow though LOL. Everyone take care and have a happy and safe New Year's.

Ktrout,
I think it is we that should be saying have a happy and safe New Years. Without folks like you willing to drop everything and go when called allows "us" to enjoy this board and drive our buses whenever, where ever we want.
Thanks! be cool, and be safe. Not sure where your at but I spent a large protion of my life deployed, and living out of a kit bag. We didn't have email in my day and autovon was a joke.

ktrout,
Sorry to hear you had to go. I spent 24 years doing that.
Take care of yourself and look out for those that don't seem to be able to.
Best of Luck, Joe

ktrout,
Be safe over there and keep your head down. Hopefully this thing will blow over soon and you'll be back with your wives (the real one and the bus) :-) in no time flat. We'll keep you in our prayers.

My son (Sgt in USMC Aviation unit) was called this past Monday and told he was shipping out to Okinawa on Monday 1/6. At least he was able to come home for Christmas. He flew home (San Diego) today to get ready. Looks like we will be seeing a lot of this in the weeks to come.

Let's keep ALL our country's sons and daughters serving, in our prayers.

Hello again everyone, Thanks for all the kind thoughts and words. This is certainly a different kind of deployment than in my previous duties. I had been out for about 8 years after leaving 9 years of active duty in Uncle Sam's canoe club. I spent 5 years floating off the coast of Iran in the early 80's waiting to do something there. E-mail and cell phones have changed everything. Where as mail was once every three weeks now I can web cam with my family once in a while and it's pretty cheap to call. As for bumping into doug...I'm quite a bit south of Bosnia. You be safe there brother.

Take care everyone

Hey Buddy!! so you are half way round the globe...at least you payed for Lukes trip to Florida before you left! (just kidding) seriously if you or your wife need anything let me know. I could email you some pictures of your pride and joy burried in the snow...we are getting dumped on again. Stay safe, we've got a lot of trips to make in the future!

All our best to you and all the others overseas. Hope you all come home safe and sound. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone sometime in the future when this all blows over.
Stay safe, be safe and write us all here at your favorite bus port on the internet.
