has anyone changed their steering wheel to a smaller size to be able to see better? i have a 20 incher and cant see above it and reach the pedals at the same time.are there any safety considerations i should know about? | ||

VIP industries make or made various sized wheels in different spoke patterns and finish and coverings. Come with proper adapter to bolt on to your coach. I changed my 4104 to an 18 incher. Just be sure that you have power steering, as that diameter reduction can make steering in low speed tight situations, a real bear if it is manual. | ||

I'm going to keep checking on this post -- I've been wanting to do this too - power steering was about the first thing I put in and have found the BIG steering wheel a bit overkill -- always thought a smaller wheel would mean less travel back and forth keeping it straight driving down the open road. staying tuned... | ||

I did changed mine to a 18 inch wheel from VIP. I'm very happy with it, and all is true what Jerry said. | ||

The PO had put in a smaller MCI wheel. I used it for over 5 years and just a few months ago found an original 21 inch wheel. Have power steering but still like the new wheel better. Different strokes for different folks. :>) | ||

If you get one of the custom wheels, be careful of the spoke pattern you choose. Some will partially block the view of your lower gauges in the straight ahead driving position. | ||

And many wheels have spokes where you want to put your hands... You really want to hold the wheel in your own hands to decide, ordering it may make you sad. happy coaching! buswarrior | ||

There is a place called Pearlcraft in Australia that can make your factory plastic wheel smaller and refinish it to look original or custom. There may be a US based firm that does the same thing but I am not aware of them. http://www.pearlcraft.com.au/ | ||

you are talking to the biggest cheapskate ever put on earth......i bought a wooden 14 incher for $41 on e bay, it may be a little small but at that price i can afford to make a mistake. the 20 incher is just way to big, i feel like sophia petrillio driving a caddy...... | ||

I just did a search for 18' steering wheel on ebay and found quite a few. If you want a cheap wheel search for Sweet Steering wheel They are cheap compared to others. These are the wheels used for round track cars and sprint cars. There are quite a few choices in size and offset. Sprint car wheels are usually flat with no offset. You will need an adaptor as they usually use a quick release that is welded on. It has the standard aftermarket 3 bolt pattern on it. I would be interested in getting a standard big wheel for an 01 Eagle mine is cracked and I still have manual steering. | ||

i have never driven her yet,so i have no idea if the 14 inch will be too small or not.it came with a wheelechair as the drivers seat and my driver was going crazy driving 3000 miles in that. we got it to nh and started renovations.the seats will go in this week after we are done with the new laminate floor and the tile work in the bathroom. | ||

Personally, the 18 incher is as small as I would go on power steering. |
