Looking at a 102c3 with Cummins L10 and 5 speed. Can anyone give me an idea of the HP and torque rating of this engine? Thanks in advance |

Hi Rod, I'm not an expert on Cummins by any means, but had a L10 in an international quad-axle dump. It was set up at 300 HP and did a respectable job for a smaller motor. Here's a HP and Torque chart that I found on the internet for Cummins. http://www.dwclutch.com/D&W/D&W%20Clutch%20&%20Brake%202/CUMMINS%20TORQUE.pdf |

The nice thing about the L10 is that it is the same block as the ISM. Even though the ISM is an electronically controlled engine (some later L10's were electronically controlled also), it can be made into a 500hp with 1550lb/ft torque for RV use. Your's is most likely in the 270-300hp range and 900-1050lb/ft torque-or about the same power as the 6V-92TA, but capable of getting 1-2mpg better than the 6V-92TA. Good Luck, TomC |

I always considered the L10 to be a dud...but if the bus has the right gearing...then you could more easily upgrade to a later 4 stroke small block engine, like M-11 or later |

I drove an Int cabover 18 wheeler for a few years that had the L10. It is a good engine, like most Cummins, and was their fuel saver version of the big engine. As I remember it was 290 HP which is plenty for most buses but, in my opinion, a 6sp or 9sp would be a lot better. All depends on the gearing though. |
