just as the subject says. I'm looking for what you have done as far as installing a tow bar on your VW. Thanks

Mine's just plain "Blue Ox" adjustable bar and faceplate kit. Nothing fancy, probably a bit overpriced, but it works.

I have a 99.5 Jetta TDI that I have the Blue OX Base plate on. Had it installed at Richards RV near Greenville, SC. I needed it done in a hurry. You will have to cut the center lower grill. They pop out anyway. Take off the bumper cover, have a helper because it is easier and quicker. I have seen a couple guys remove one in less than 2 minutes. I'll try to take a pic in the daylight tomorrow. I have the Blue ox tow bar that I bought from Towing world on their specials/rebuilt sale.

Don't forget to look in the manual, you have to start the engine and run it for a short time every so-many milesto slosh oil on the other part of the gears. I don't recall the actual numbers.

Better late than never, The lower grill has to be cut and there are removable pieces that lock into the holes for the tow bar to attach to. Search the archives for Jetta and you will see other opportunities like extra brake light bulb holders. If you search fredstdiclub fifth brake light mod you see where to get Diodes where you can hook all the brake lights too.

Will try again to post pic
