I need to track down the main heater motor on my 4107. The times I have used it, it seems to drag the voltmeter down below the normal area and also seems to make quite a bit of noise. I am thinking bearings? Anyway, now it has quit and I need to locate the fuse for it (I think that is above the batteries in the side compartment) and then find the physical location of the motor. I have a maintanance manual, so i will start there. Just thought I could short circuit the learning curve by asking on here. Thanks in advance,

If your PD4107 still has the standard A/C & Coach Heat you have a left and right blower motors.
Located in the heater and A/C compartment in front of the first baggage bin.
Check the brushes in these motors is a common problem for them when the motors do not operate.

John -

To supplement what JLV posted, access to the motors may, or may not be, thru a wooden panel in the front baggage bin.

Otherwise, they are probably located behind wooden panels inside the HVAC access doors on each side of the coach.

Be prepared to get VERY dirty!

The reason your coach has a 200+ amp alternator is the blower motors EACH take about 80A .

You may wish to adjust the V reg when the blowers are on.

Bigrigger. Check the motor brushes and bearings. while you are into it clean the comutator and may as well replace the brushes and bearings since the cost will outweigh the tearing it out again. You can bench test[?] while it is out and check amp draw, then if you have other problems it is right there on the bench. I have one out of a 4104 and all it needed was a good grease job and then was all good since who knows when it was serviced.

Thanks for the good responses guys, I know i can always count on lots of help on this board. I know my ac generator is in the drivers side area where the original AC condensor was so I hope I have access from some other location. I'll bet your right though, it's gonna be a dirty job. I wonder if i could trick my son into coming over to help old dad on a project ;-) lol. Thanks again

It is probably like the 4104 which draws about 20amps as I remember.

The 4104 has only one fan motor for heat and two others up front for the defroster.

Close to the fan end of the motor are two grease fittings at the end of long tubes which send the grease to the motor bearings. Try to find this and see if it will take grease.

I think the grease fittings for the opposite end bearings can be easier reached and that they have no extension tubes.

This cured mine of a lot of noise and it now gives out more heat than I can stand.

Eventually I plan to replace the huge motor with a much smaller one since the bus now needs far less heat than when it was full of passengers.

"Eventually I plan to replace the huge motor with a much smaller one since the bus now needs far less heat than when it was full of passengers."

The heat , at least on the Sportscar '06 was huge but not for the passengers.

The AIR COND required a very special set of requirements to be engaged.
Once on it was not cycled like the car units , it just RAN!

The heat was the control to modify the temperature for the pax. Therefore the big heating radiator and first single , later dual blowers.

This has the added advantage of de-humidifying the coach.

The blower motors will have a nomenclature plate that will identify what GM thought would be the amp draw.

The cables from the rear up to the heating compartment are really heavy , so the house batts could be installed there with ease.
