I recently washed down the engine compartment on my MC9. I however had not started the engine after the cleaning and has set for a month. It was time to stretch its legs, it started reasonably well for the cool Florida winter, ran for a couple of minutes then sounded as if it was running out of fuel, I believe it did and it Died. Upon close examination I found what looks like a ground wire loose (broken) on a electrical valve? mounted on the fuel filter. Could this be a fuel shut of switch and by losing it's ground shut the fuel off????

I am familiar with 2 pressure switches that are usually found on the fuel filter, neither of which will kill the engine. 1 locks out the starter if there is fuel pressure. Another prevents shifting at high pressure. I suppose there could be others. I would first fix the broken ground wire and proceed from there. Is this a DDEC? If not, I would go to your 1st suspicion, no fuel. If it's DDEC, u may have a wet sensor or even the control box.

Thanks for the reply, it however does not have DDEC and has 90% full fuel ?

The wire to the center of the pressure transducer (sender) is the signal (hot) wire. The case is self-grounding when you screw it in. ...JJ

Maybe it just lost its prime (bad check valve?) and the wire is an unrelated issue. Maybe try filling up the filters with fuel again and see how long she'll run. You can also rig a jerry can to the fuel line to bypass the main tank for trouble shooting. (if you suspect a bad line or check valve etc.) You can put the return line into a clear container to observe air bubbles or lack thereof. (should be none)

Could it be the Skinner valve is not working?

Hey fellows, thanks for the replies to my post. I recieved an Email, the writer sujested I first check the stop engine switch on the remote at the engine, as the engine will start until it begins to build air then shut off the fuel. It truely is the simple things that matter. Thanks again Creig.
