I'm looking for Tall valve covers for my 6V71 so that I can install the Jake brake solonoids. I was told that the 6V92 valve covers are the same covers and they would be more plentiful and easier to find. I would like the one piece tall covers if I can find them. ( I even have some 8V covers to trade if someone is interested ) But I would like to confirm my information is correct. Thanks in advance |

Paul, The 6V71 and the 6V92 valve covers are interchangable. The will fit each other with no problem, But finding the taller ones for the jakes are kinda difficult. There are/was spacers that were made also that were about 1" thick and you just reused your covers. Just had to use 2 gaskets on each one. I couldn't find any covers or spacers, so I had to cut up 2 sets of steel covers and weld up my own covers. Dale |

As Dale said, the 71 and 92 3-cylinder valve covers interchange. Highly recommend you find the aluminum ones, rather then the steel. Steel have a tendency to warp and leak. And, hold out for the tall valve covers-the conversion spacer to use your existing valve covers just creates another leak point. Good Luck, TomC |

Thanks Joe and Ralph for the offline leads. I found a set of tall aluminum of a 6V92. Interesting that they have large breathers on the top of them, with fuel mizer decals, first thought DD as a fuel mizer
