Need to know more about what you are trying to do. Do you need to convert 24 volt to 12 volt and/or separate stop/turn to combined stop/turn?

I used one from Draw-Tite and it worked great, but I only used it for about a year...

We have sold some good/heavy expensive ones one of the trash truck companies here, seems when they use cheap plastic ones they don't last. So if you have the correct application/voltage/etc. you might consider buying up. As usual there is no guarantee on electrical stuff so make sure your wiring etc is correct. Otherwise, do what Fred Said.

Run a good solid +12v line to the trailer area, then grab three $2 cube relays, and make this circuit:

You can omit the marker light relay at the left, since you have a 12v coach to begin with.

I've posted that same drawing here several times in the past. Before your time, I think.

(among others...)

Which brings up a good point -- everything ever said here is in the archives; tons of good information. Answers to questions like this one can often be found by using the "search" function on the menu at the bottom of this page.

I actually have a nicer version of this drawing that shows the industry-standard terminal numbers on the relays, and internal snubber diodes on the coils, which I produced for an article Jim Shepherd ran in Bus Conversions Magazine a few months ago. I keep meaning to upload it to the web site, but I have not gotten around to it. One of these days...

Since my bus has separate stop and turn signal lights, I also bought 2 sets of LED magnetic lights and wired to the rear lights of the bus. With Sean's relay system, you can convert to 12v lights also. The magnetic lights take about 3 minutes to setup and are very bright, getting the attention you need light wise. Good Luck, TomC

Since I've never seen a magnetic mount that didn't scratch the paint badly, and I have a roof rack on my car, I bought a pair of two-filament red lights (for the tail/stop circuits) and a pair or single-filament yellows. I mounted them on a bar that clips on the luggage rack. I could just run off the bus circuits, but I like the idea of a separately-fused power supply, so I've run 24v relays (four - tail, stop, left, right) and a 12v feed.

The wiring runs from the bus to the rack (from up high on my bus - over the windshield), and then along the rack to the bar with the light units at the rear. Quick, easy, cheap and non-scratching.

I went another way. Got a trailer light wiring kit. Drilled holes in the car's tail light inside housings, bought snap in bulb sockets (for dual filament 3157 or 1157 bulbs) and ran the wiring through the car under trims, carpets, etc. Coiled the bus end up under the hood of the car (select a place it won't "get into trouble" when not in use. When we tow, I pop the hood on the toad, run the harness out at the center of the hood & close the hood. ((When I get some time, I will wire this to the 6 wire socket on the tow bar baseplate of the toad).

I like that, Jim Bob. But I have the Jetta wagon and it's pure h!ll getting to those taillights so that didn't seem practical to me. But I thought about it.
