I am new to this board. I am looking for info. Am converting a Neoplan AN440 metro bus 1981 with V871 and V730 trans. I have been trying to get a wiring diagram for this unit but NEOPART has not been able to help. I have a Parts catalog and a maintenance manual But neither has a detailed wiring diagram. Just wondered if anyone might be able to tell me where I might get this info? This bus came from Metro Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority. Any help will be appreciated. Don G

Don,

I don't think you will find anything more detailed than what's in the maintenance manual.

MARTA might have something they can copy for you, but I would not count on it.

If you have a specific question I might be able to help.

Have you tried to contact the builder? We all play with old equipment but just maybe.

Maybe go to the orginal owner. Metro Atlanta Rapid Transit. When I bought my bus the TTC was very good at helping me photo copy diagrams etc.

That's not the builder. This coach was built by Neoplan USA, an independent company whose only connection to the original Neoplan (now owned by MAN and the parent of the UK subsidiary you linked above) was the licensing of the name.

The AN440 coach was exclusive and specific to the US.

Neoplan USA went out of business in 2005. There is no longer any builder to contact.

There must be an echo in here... I did already suggest he contact MARTA. However, I have doubts they would have had anything more detailed than the maintenance manual to begin with.

This is the price to be paid for owning an orphaned coach. When I needed wiring information for my Neoplan, I usually ended up tracing the wires by hand, with the help of a toner and tracer (I favor models from Progressive, widely available now on-line).

As I said, if there is a specific question, I might be able to help. I have a Jetliner manual here; many circuits are identical or at least similar.

With owning a common coach where things are more readily available even though GM is gone there is still an option to get things. I wasn't aware of the history of Neoplan just suggested things I would look into before I gave up. I also didn't realize what MARTA stood for. I should have figured that one out. I'm sure they would have had all the diagrams at some time for troubleshooting problems. Hopefully Don will contact you with more specific info and you can help him. Don't like to see a fellow busnut stuck.
