a update on the INFINITUM battery desulfator testing conducted this summer (post archived at)
http://www.busnut.com/bbs/messages/11/30223.html?1252329261

25 batterys of different types, capcities and condition were conditioned or maintained with the INFINITUM test desulfator; 20 start, old and some wornout as well as fresh but shelf aged, 4 fresh but shelf aged deep cycle and 1 marine dual purpose.

- battery capatcity was rigourously tested by a MAC TOOLS digital battery tester model BT8300 ( which is not a good indicator for deep cycle battery testing appliactions but accurate with start batterys in at a state of maxium recharge)

~no measureable amount of capacity restoration in any of the test batterys was apparent; although there is visual evidence of desulfation which MAY have some benifit extended capacity "satus qou" for properly used or propley stored flooded lead acid batterys of all three types.

{does this translate into anything achieve with conclusive results beyound cleaning the lead sulpates from the plate surface, EYE-DOUGH-KNOT-NOs] =I will seek a more conclusive test method and get back update in the future...( I did mention my findings to the manufacture in Myalasia , but it has yet to sugest alternative method of testing to prove the worth of just cleaning the plates or comment further )
Went to the trouble to buy 5 of them, at about $50 each delivered into my hands, so I might as well spend some more time testing, IF ONLY for entertainment for my 250 bucks , should all they become is more crap-teck that only serves make believe purposes. The quality of the modulated pulse wave generator is as advertised, so there is no doubt about that part of the product claim.

>having giving less than "hoped for" results , I have yet to do the more involved product research concerning the cleaness and RF interference or possilbe filtering remedy to protect sensitive electronics.

~at this point in the verification I shall not be purchasing a pallet load of this brand of desulphator & trying to flog them to my bus nuts buds , perhaps after much more involved testing~

...what , you mean there is suace , I am still waiting for the gravy...are you sure about these things, or did someone just tell you they were real chucky ?

~p.s. better less prayin' for me ,(as I ain't no prey for no-ones ones make-believe), you're only diverting effort better spent busing & restoring or preserving them buses for a extended life, as there is no bus after-life chuck, not for them or even their believeing passangers, just focused on what good examples you are setting in this life, as those shall live on. Think deeds not words my friend , it's all in the example as history has always shown .

clint

Tom in Alaska has played with these things for quite a while, and he apparently has never thrown out a battery yet, in fact he must carrying all of them in the belly of his bus according to the post a little above here.
So perhaps he might shed some light on this mysterious regenerating business and tell us what he has learned.

Joe.

I bought one of these on Ebay:

It says motorcycle on it, however it is the same as their regular one for cars.

Clint, while we have had very good luck keeping old batteries alive with desulfaters, we do lose an occasional battery due to a shorted cell.

Once a cell shorts, we have never been able to recover the battery.

For what it's worth.

I have seen shorted batteries fulshed with fresh electrolite which is poured out and replaced again that would recover for a period of time (which can be variable), but if they are too far gone they will usually drop a cell pretty quickly after this exercise.

Thank you for the report, Clint.

I was just wondering about your testing the other day, and here you are!

Post made sense to me, but then, perhaps my fuel source is similar...

I will await further reports.

happy coaching!

A junkyard guy I knew used to take all junk batt's he recieved, drain and replace the acid, then drop an asprin in each cell, then re-charge them.(I swear it's true) he said he ended up saving about 2/3's of them. claimed the asprin ate away the crud on the plates or something to that affect.

We bought a battery from a battery rebuilder once. He cut open old batteries with a heat knife, cleaned and repaired the plates and melted the top back on and sold them. It was a stinky, dangerous looking operation, but it saved a lot of lead from the landfills.
