Once you've reached your destination, what mode of transportation do you use? Do you tow a car, motorcycle, carry a bicycle, scooter, taxi or just walk?

I tow my '84 Mercedes Turbodiesel that has a Remco driveline disconnect on it. It tows very well, and even with the car, the bus still isn't over gvw, so I don't have a braking system on it. But-I want to tow a cabin cruiser also, so that's why I'm making my Kenworth truck conversion with a 160" garage under the bedroom. Towing a car is a pain-especially if you get into a situation where you have to turn around or back up. Far easier to tow a trailer then you can back up. Good Luck, TomC

Thanks for the feedback. Presently, I have fold up electric and gas scooters that I store easily in one of the bays. I'm considering towing a '90 Honda Pacific Coast motorcycle.

I tow my harleys in a trl, we like it but we'd much rather be on a bike than anything else.

I tow a 00 JEEP TJ, like Tom I don't even feel it back there. Got 3 axles so I don't have brakes on the Jeep, never had a problem and would't leave home without it.

We tow a 95 Jeep Grand Ckerokee with our kayaks on top of it. We did add an M&G brake unit with breakaway option and made a rock guard out of an MC-9 front cap to protect the front of the car from rock chips & "diesel debris". Jack

I have just welded brackets (of my own design) onto my wifes '07 Focus. My weld test comes in two weeks when we hook to it and see if it follows us to Florida!

We're looking to purchase a Jeep Cherokee. Did you guys buy them new or used? We are looking at between 95-2000 4WD. Only problem for us most are in the Dallas area.

What has been your experience in using this type of dingy?

Any particular year better than others?

Prior to our 95 Grand Cherokee, we towed a Ford F250 4WD pick-up. It was a little bit heavier and longer. We prefer the Grand Cherokee. It seats more people and can still haul a bit of "stuff" with the rear seat folded down (but not as much as the F250).
We felt the Grand Cherokee was a good trade-off between maximum cargo capacity and passenger capacity.
We found our Grand Cherokee on Auto Trader and it was in Orlando. We found our used RoadMaster tow bar and M&G brake at www.hitchtrader.com. Jack

I have towed lots of different cars, but now we tow a chev pickup with the motercycle in the back. I did like my Cherokee, better than the Grand Cherokee. Don't know why, but I did.

Grand Cherokee has a little less "box" shape to the vehicle (more slope to the windshield, more rounded corners, bigger bumpers) and a few more bells & whistles on the inside. I am pretty sure the wheel base and drive train are the same. Jack

towed a Ford E-350 van loaded to capcity for a year behing the tired loaded MC-8. Did a lot of night travel in the mountains to mitigate traffic congetion over those long slow grades of single lane, which is a trade off with the sceinic wounder.

Paul the Cherokee is smaller and lighter then the Grand Cherokee. I liked the way it drove better and had less problems with it. Lots of the Grand Cherokee's had rear end problems. Mine had to have the rear replaced and then the axels. Two axels cost me over $700.00 lots more than they would cost for your bus. Could have been just me, I did put over 100,000 miles on both cars not including the towing.

Thanks Jack and Jack. It looks like we'll be looking for a Cherokee! After looking the past month or so I like the looks better anyway!

If a jeep cherokee or grand has a noisy rear, a $120.00 bearing kit and I had it to do the labor now quiet. Also Jeep changed the transfercase in 1999. Also 6cyl. best but exhast manifold broken, but $89.00 online for it.
