Hi folks, So, after a bit of a hiccup which my ISP can't quite put their finger on (ahem), I have managed to find the offending file, cleaned it and put it back in its rightful place amongst the myriad scripts and other nonsense filling the canyons of this site. Ian, Like Nellie, I was wondering if I got booted. I was getting a little paranoid and wondering why. All I could come up with is that our coach is not a TRUE conversion...it was done in a factory. I still can't believe you are running DISCUS, it was nice to see the platform I abandoned 10 years ago still chugging along Ed. Note: Peter, why did you get Discus in the first place? I'm considering going to a php mysql db, but can't really justify it for any reason so far? Ian | ||

Thanks, Ian for all of your hard work.. You qualify for being a busnut even if you had never seen a bus, just for this website. As others have mentioned, when this is down, things get so bad I have to go and WORK on something! I second that a direct connection from the new classifieds to the original button would be nice. | ||

Ian, I went for DISCUS because of its quick and dirty easy setup, as most people do. inbound porting capability was good too. unfortunately, as your DB gets bigger, the flatfile system it uses (or it used to use) can develop some serious problems. I started having problems at about 50k messages. Right now, I use my own creation (mysql/php), with about 2 million records, and if I stuck with DISCUS, I would be seriously up the creek without a paddle, because back then you couldn't port out to anything like phpbb or the like. | ||
