Does anyone out there know if there is a way to install a 12 v tach on a 24 volt system? I've checked out 24 v tachs, and they are super expensive!

Janet,
There are a couple of ways to go:
(1) If you only wnat to power the tach, and nothing else, you can get a little 3 legged regulator at any Radio Shack store. Get the one that the voltage is settable by two resistors. Buy the resistors while you are there. They will put out plenty of power for a tach etc. Total cost about $10.
(2) If you want to power more than a tach, then you shoul plan to provide a 12 volt service bus in your 24 volt panel. It will provide power for things like Backup cam, CB radio, comm radio, cruise control, toad lights etc. If you want to go this way email me for a diagram.
(3) A used 24 volt tach should not be very expensive. Call Deans coach, or RON etc,, or any one of the many bus salvage places.

Yes, Isspro sells 24 to 12 volt reducers exactly for that purpose. Part# R3124 will handle up to 6 gauges, R7934 will handle one gauge.
