There used to be (?) an acronym page. What happened to it?

Hi Johnny,

With only 27 entries in 3 months, I don't believe it received an appropriate amount of response to justify leaving it on.

Try Google.com and type in "bus jargon and acronyms" to view a bizillion web sites that do a much better job than what used to appear here.

Regards,

I use acronymfinder.com when I need to look something up. It has sooooo many entires that you'll have to search thru all possible definitions to find the one that fits your context.

No biggie--I was just wondering.

Fast Fred still sometimes needs his own dictionary, though! :p

What the heck is a carbunkle, anyway?

Carbuncle: A painful localized bacterial infection of the skin and subcutaneous tissue that usually has several openings through which pus is discharged.

or. . .

A deep-red garnet, unfaceted and convex.

Source: Dictionary.com

So what was the context of that one?!?! Certainly must have been an obscure fastfredism.

A carbuncle according to Websters is:

1: any of certain deep-red gems, especially a garnet with a smooth, convex surface.
2: a painful, localized, pus-bearing inflammation of the tissue beneath the skin, more severe than a boil and having several openings.
3: any pimple.

You takes your choice, ain't you glad you asked..... LOL.

Peter.

I searched the archives and found the answer to my own question. Carbunkle is Fast Fred's word for a rooftop air conditioner. Except he is spelling it with a K instead of a C.

""A painful localized infection of the coach roof and that usually has several openings through which warm air is discharged.""

To me a Carbunkle is a Carbunkle as it sticks up thru the roof of an otherwise fine coach.

Others seem to love them as no repair is ever necessary , they are just scrapped when inop.

Do it Your WAY!

But the basement method doesnt take THAT much more time & effort.

Yeah, but where do you put the stuff that gets evicted from, well, the "basement"? I plan to use a couple rooftop A/C units. They were free, since they didn't work. My friend offered to try to fix them. If he can't, he can have them for the refrigerant. Hey, it's free!

Every coach is different ,
but I was able to install the dual compressor basement air unit in the old evaporator bay,
and the 6.5 kw Propane OHNO in the old blower bay.

NO room taken from the REAL bays for conversion junk.

Works for me,

I agree Fred, i think those roof airs make a coach look trashy, why mess with the beautiful lines of a coach with something like that, if your ingenious enuf you can make anything work, but whatever works for the person there the ones that have to live with it

Yes, I want my roof to be as original shape as possible. One of the things I'm planning on is to install automobile after market sun roof's in place of 14x14 vents. Problem is no screens.
Something to think about.

I don't know what pricing you are seeing for the automotive type sun roofs, but they were pricy here so I looked at a maringe salvage store and found hatches, about 22" square, tinted safety glass and screens are optional, saved about 50 bucks each and went in like a breeze. Have a lookie. cd
