Hello folks. Well it has been a very difficult uphill battle for me to enter this hobby / lifestyle. mostly because I did not know about this site I'm sure. first of I over paid for the 4107 because it was so beautiful sitting there in need of a complete restoration, then meeting Kevin (Macgyver) and seeing his lightly charred 4905 only made things worse Kevin was very helpful and I agreed with him that the 4905 needed to be saved so I brought it home to introduce it to the 4107 and let nature take it's course. all was good in my world but little did I know of the darkness that was looming. the quiet laid back township of unincorporated fort Lauderdale was recently annexed by Dania Beach and now code Nazis have begun roaming our streets sticking their noses in everyone's business. I have 3/4 acre with several really nice old cars 7 dogs 3 cats 9 marmoset monkeys and two buses. the Nazi was drooling. I am in need of help so Kevin said I should start here perhaps anyone might know where I can place my buses until find suitable commercial property. or I will have sell or part out one, or lastly and most tragic scrap. the 4107 is listed on Ebay now. very sad indeed

George,

Welcome, and here are several suggestions.

1. Are the buses registered as motorhomes, (housecars) or still commercial buses?

2. Codes can't be retroactive, if you were legal before the annexation, you probably still are.

3. List your bus in the FOR SALE section HERE!

4. Look in the archives here, as this subject has been thoroughly discussed.

5. Good luck!
George

I agree with the above. The buses need to be currently registered as motorhomes, and (having lived in unincorporated Ft. L) I assume there was not a previous zoning prohibition on motorhomes.
You definitely want to hide the ugly part of that 4905 though. Your neighbors can make your life hell if they don't like you.

George, how is it that if they are both currently registered, insured & running, that they can tell you you can't have them? Are they behind the front of the house?
I know you can't have junk cars or trucks but what are they citing for cause?

This area is moving towards a condo commando mentality. the complaint is that they cannot be parked on grass, not even cars, and an RV over 35' must be garaged. I would like to spend the $14,000 on the bus not a concrete parking slab. Maybe I should sell them both to good homes I am beginning to think that I did not think this through very well, In a perfect world I would be in a piece of land more north some west in Florida where i can have a shop for English and Italian cars plus room for a bus or two, 10 monkeys, 4 Dachshunds, 1 horse, NO NAZIS. nirvana

tried it, it wont fly with
Dania beach codes. it has to be a driveway. and since I am way over the (approved) animal limit I dare not try to fight this or make waves.
