G'Day Crew, First time poster and new member on this absolutely great forum. I am wondering on the pros and cons of tapping into the bus power steering lines to run a hydraulic remote radiator cooling fan. Motor is the 6V92TA. There appears to be a seperate air flow cooling core for the hydraulics. Many thanks guys. Dirk |

Dirk Welcome to the wacky world of bus nuts. I don't think I would tap into the power steering lines for anything as the power steering pump is probably running at rated capacity and just the time you need to make a steering correction quickly you need all its capacity instantly. Mount another pump on the engine and use it. Bill |

Dirk, the power steering pump is way short on gpm for a fan.check the Haldex hyd fan site for information on flow reqiured for different setups. good luck |

Typically, the fan drive pump will be piggy backed on the power steering pump-so you actually have two separate hydraulic circuits. Good Luck, TomC |

Dirk, I have a pump from a 6V92. It has P.S. and a seperate ports for the hyd. fan. If you are looking for this type of pump let me know. This is the same type of pump I run on mine but this is a belt driven pump. Goodluck Tom Y |

Dirk i have been chasing down newer parts for our hyd. pump and motor. I just checked out the link from luverbus and i hadent seen it. here are acouple more. www.sauer-danfoss.com and hydraulics.eaton.com/products. Our webster set up came from a carpenter transit and the pump did drive both the power steering and the hyd fan. Good luck dont forget to post the outcome. Dont forget the greatest treasure here the ARCHIVES! |

G'Day Tom, The radiator and fan are still down in Melbourne at the moment, but everything should be on its way up here next week so I won't have any fan details till then. All I have at the moment are a couple of photos. But I will certainly get back to you as soon as I know. Certainly interested though. I will email you if you don't mind when I get a look at just what's included with the thing. G'Day David, Thank you for leads, everything helps in this game. I only recently found out about this forum and can't believe the activity. Glad I joined up now. Dirk. |

G'Day Crew, Going to have to abandon the hydraulic fan idea unfortunately. No matter what I do I just can't fit the radiator core into the engine compartment. Its protrudes way to far in the cabin area which results in a huge loss of floor space. I have to point out here the deal with the fan included the radiator and bits and pieces. The hydraulic fan would be a good thing on its own but the deal is a bit expensive for that alone and having to scrap the radiator core. Thanks to all for the input, offers and welcome. This is a grat forum, wish I had found it ages ago. Dirk |

Dirk; Have you thought about putting two small radiators in place of one and use electric fans that are temp controled? I have seen this done and in fact MCI uses two and are belt driven. Another thought |

Marvin, Thought exactly about that myself. I can always revert back to the old system to the side of the motor and use the belt driven fan set up if I can't work something else out. Just that this hydraulic fan would have allowed me to to put the radiator, if it fitted, to the rear side of the bus out of harms way. Core was a monster, great cooling for this climate that was what appealed the most. Dirk |
