In the Feb 03 Highways Mag.(the official Sam's club publication) on page 11 there is a notice about the NHTSA recall on Monaco Coach Corp recall of 7 models of coaches. Recall No.02V237. www.nhtsa.dot.gov will get the exact problem. Highways says "the floor-truss-network support system has a potential to weaken, causing misalignment of internal and external features that can result in bottoming out the suspension and amplification of the stress placed on the floor-truss-network. Additional stress can result in the fracture of welds that secure the floor-truss-network system to the chassi frame railand/or fracture of the floor-truss-network support system. The possibility also exists that there could be damage to the electrical wiring and/or fuel lines that could potentially lead to fire." I'm not sure but I think what that means is the body breaks off and falls down around the chassis/frame. If the Monaco is one of the better motorhomes I don't think I want one of them either. Phil can rest easy though because the Knight model isn't one of them. Ed the wanna-be |

Ed, Thanks for the information! Happily all the models listed are gas powered front engine models. One thing I have found with a couple of minor problems that the moron dealer could not/would not fix is that Monaco has great customer support. |

OK let me understand this "the floor truss network" that would be the "sticks"? A "potntial to weaken" That would be the "stapels" bending? In a collision isn't the wireing and fuel lines part of the support structure for the myriad slide-outs? And when the body drops would that make it a "high floor"? Would the RVIA sticker then be at eye level? Sorry couldn't resist! Tried to tour all the factories (Elkhart,Decature,Napanee, ect, ect,)and see them built. Sell my POS and get the "right one". Just not possible! Monoco is one of the "better ones" thou, they asked me to leave instead of throwing me out! OR.......why is the floor of a 1948 Brill still solid enough to "Riverdance" on and a Delama-in-a-minato AIN'T?? Smoke, rattle&,stink docdezl |
