Anyone know how difficult and costly it is to instal a 3 stage Jake brake on a Detroit Series 60 11.1 ? Would I be better off installing an exhaust brake? And I don't want to start off the discussion again about which brake is called a Jake or what is which type, etc....... LOL. Thanks. Peter. |

Peter, What is a three stage Jake? Mine is only two stages. Four cylinders or eight cylinders. Richard |

Richard. That's what I see advertised on the late model trucks with the 6 cylinder motors, going by what you say, must be 2, 4, or 6 cylinders. Peter. |

That is correct Peter. The S-60 Jake set up can be on as many cylinders as desired. Standard set up is 2, 4, or 6 cylinders with switch indications as low, med, high. On the late D model MCI coaches they only use 4 cylinders (low, med) because of the step in the back of the coach floor will not allow jakes to be installed on the back 2 cylinders. thanks. DrEd. |
