Do any of you BNO regulars need an awkward load moved westward? I'm leaving Fort Myers, FL in a couple of days for 'Vegas. Be glad to tote your load, as long as it isn't too terribly large (must fit in the bay of my 4905). May go on to L.A. during this trip. I-75/I-10; then US 60 and 93 out of Phoenix, if I can get across Hoover. Anyone know if the restriction is still on? Cheers...JJ

Last time I crossed Hoover in Sept, they let my bus across. But they did inspect it. Probably best to call in advance just to make sure though.

Thanks Scott. How thorough was the inspection? I fulltime and drag a lot of junk I don't really need around with me. I dislike the idea of setting all of it out on the parking lot for them to dig thru. ...JJ

The Hoover Dam is still open to motorhomes, etc. Just no commercial vehicles. However you may get an inspection at the check point. I know this as I live just off the 93 about 8 miles North of Kingman and drive by one of the overhead signs most days.

The 93 from Phoenix is really good these days, many passing places on the remaining 2 lane sections and a whole lot of 4 lane now.

JJ, give us a holler when you are going to hit town and stop by for a cup of tea........ LOL.

You may email me off group if you want, for directions etc.

Peter.

JJ,

I had to dissassemble my dinnette, unload all my cargo on the ground, and deflate all my tires to show they just had air in them!

Just kidding. It wasn't bad. In fact, they were pretty lax. One guy went inside and walked the length. The other guy stayed outside with me and asked where I was going, what I did for a living and what was on my roof rack etc. (I have commercial signs on my bus, and I was hauling lots and lots of stuff, tools, wood, metal etc.) Basically, I had nearly everything I owned with me in an uncompleted conversion and had half the parts and building materials I'll use later in the bus!

Of course the US is on higher alert now than it was when I went over, so they may have stepped the inspections up a bit.

JJ, how far north are you planning to go? I'm inland from San Francisco about 30 miles east of I5, I have a generator I bought in Tucson that I have been trying to get up here.
