I have been toying with the idea of putting a window at the bottom of my entry door (so I can see curb's, etc.) like transits and schoolies have. How practical is this? What would be the down side of this? Would it really be worthwhile?

Let me know your toughts and experiences, thanks.

Sounds like a lot of work for little benefit. I have a 4104 that has the handle that allows me to open the door from the drivers seat. In the three years we've had the bus, I think I've opened the door for visibility only two or three times.

If you have a backup camera system already a better use of time and money might be a second camera mounted near the right front side looking down and back or on the right rear side looking down and forward. -- Don

Some newer MCIs with sedan doors have this feature, as well as MC-9s with two piece doors. If it was an option on an MC-8, the parts will be listed in the MC-8 part manual (not that you can necessarily get them). At least a look at the parts manual exploded view might give you some idea of what the structure of that part of the door is like.

Some class 8 trucks use a mirror mounted at top of pass. door, tilted @ 45 degrees never frosted or got dirty. Worked good and no coax. See Navistar dealer for CO 9670.

After thought, nice to see the "step" is pulled back!

Another twist, have an assistant hold a mirror above the door, or above the windshield in the corner, inside, pointing down. Slightly convex would work best.

If it lets you see what you want, one less thing for those hungry tree branches to get a hold of.

Same execution as one of those school bus mirrors that are hung out the front corner in some jurisdictions.

happy coaching!

My dogs love it. They lay on the roll-out floor that covers the step-well and then have their own private window for viewing. That way, they can see who their barking at. Mine is a custom slider from Peninsula and I have to make sure it is closed while traveling or the pooches might make an unscheduled exit. A couple of times it has come in handy with motorcycles stopping on my right ahead of the front wheels, ahead of my clearance mirror setting

Very good question. My Crown ex-schoolie has the bottom door window and after getting spoiled with it, would never even CONSIDER not having such.

Much better visability. Been in coaches without it and by comparison, one feels literally blind behind the wheel. Also spoiled by the schoolies..

..many rear view mirrors which are overkill for a coach. All in what one is used too. I would vote for maximum visablity in all directions.

Would consider the safety considerations first. More is better. Also pets LOVE the thing--they look out it for hours. Thanks. Henry of CJ.
