how easy is it to make a remote start switch off a dodge cummins engine? | ||

Pete, As in you want to start your engine from the rear? And its mechanically injected, (one wire to the fuel injection pump?) And it doesn't have a rear start switch now? If so, buy a single pole, double throw switch, and a push button. Find a hot wire in the rear, and connect one outside terminal of the switch to it, cut the wire to the injector pump, connect the wire from the front of the bus to the other outside terminal, the wire to the injector pump must go on the middle terminal. Then another wire from the middle terminal to one terminal of the start button, the other to the small terminal of the start relay. If you have an automatic, you will have to find the neutral safety switch on the trans, and connect the start button wire there, on the terminal coming from the FRONT of the bus. Otherwise, THE ENGINE WILL START IN GEAR! Needless to say, a manual trans must be in neutral. The three switch positions are: FRONT RUN, STOP, and REAR RUN. You won't get any battery charging in the "rear run" position. You can do it differently by just putting an on/off switch in the injector pump wire, and the start button wire on the front side of the switch. Then you go inside first, and turn on the master, then go to the rear to push the start button. When the back switch is on, the engine will run, with the switch off the engine will stop.
