I have been watching this post to see what kind of returns you could or would get. I have been trying to determine just how many of the participants posess nice senior, experianced, veteran,Eagles,GMC &,Flxible coaches. And might not be able to accept "composit" or "bonding" or "102". From what I have been able to gleen about the the Hoolies is that the units with the Mann engines are supposed to be pricy to rebuild. Dump truck guys like them and NO diesel is cheap. Also heard that the wireing on pre 1994 units could be a problem but then a lot of shops have problems with traceing electrical. The chassis is your usual scandinavian, proper treatment of every material to keep it corossion free IE see VOLVO. But I'll bet that if you find the right one at the right price. A good Cummins 8.3 and Allison World, could cure the drive line. Working and reading an electical schematic for a Hoolie and not being prejudiced by MCI/GMC experiance you may find as I did on early 90's Volvo trucks that they were not just different but better. After that hell, a box is a box. And you can't make your "bus " too different and get the storage, the seating, the ride, and the balance and get it to scale legal. And the ones I have riden were very quiet and supper smooth. smoke,rattle&,stink......docdezl |
