There's no manufacturer that I can find, that has a "chip" for my 2002 E350 Superduty van with a 7.3 diesel. Even "Bully Dog's" 40502 series that had been relseased for that model, is no longer supported, nor will they recommmend it for my vehicle. There is however, a company "brandxdieselChips" that makes an adapter to modify the ICP sensor, to provide an increase in power and mpg. The big question? Is there anyone here that has one, or something similiar to it? If so, comments regarding this means to improve efficiency and power/mpg will be appreciated. Hi Tim - Thanks for the suggestion. I called SCT, and they don't list my van. The individual I spoke with must be some generic phone answering/management service, since he didn't seem to know the difference between an E350 van, an Econoline van, and a E350 Superduty van. I gave up trying to get a straight answer from him. They do not offer refunds if the device fails to work, and their website doesn't list my van. Don - Thanks for the link. I had previously asked them about my van, and at that time they said that the only device (chip) that would work, was the Bully Dog 40502. Bully Dog no longer makes that claim, and has removed the suggestion of it from their advertising. I did take the time to send dieselsmoke's sales department an Email asking again if they now have a chip for my van... I'll let you know what they say. The Superduty vans all seem to use different configurations of computer technology/programming. I had a "Diablo" unit interfere with the torque converter lockdown, and set off dash lights I didn't know I had. And the Bully Dog 40500 I had, caused more problems than I can type. I sold that at a loss... It just was not designed for the Superduty van. A famous make's rep sent me an email after I posted this here. I called to talk to them personally. They wanted to know if I will Beta-Test a unit for them. It's a fairly elaborate, top-of-the-line unit that they are attempting to re-program to include the Superduty Van series. I should have the unit by this weekend, but might wait until the week to install it. There's no technician on duty over the weekend to re-program it, if something goes haywire. They're nice enough to assure me that if I need towing, etc, due to their unit, they'll pick up the tab! It's amazing there's still people like that around! I've beta-tested ham radio peripherals in the past, so it's nothing new for me, and might keep me too busy to annoy George for a week or so. So again, thank you both for taking the time! I really appreciate it! I'll let you know how this thing goes. (I wonder if they make one for DD) . (Message edited by john_mc9 on March 05, 2010) |
