I would like to find the owners of eagles that have used what they call Band aids for your torsolastics supension instead of replacing the torsolastics, and do they help? Do they raise the bus up some? |

I think you are referring to repairs made to the bars by welding patches over them. Since new Model 01 bars are currently unavailable I have seen this repair made before. It is simply a crack repair, has nothing to do with correcting a worn out or delaminated torsion and will not raise the bus. To do that on worn out '01 torsions you would have to add air ride, which is a common mod to older Eagles. Two places that do it are B&B Coach and Southern Oregon Diesel. New torsion bars are available for the 05,10,15 & 20 Eagles from Silver Eagle Bus Manufacturing and Jefferson Bus. |

What i was referring too, Was the Band Aid made out of 8"thick wall pipe split in half like a clamp with 6 heavy gauge bolts with double lock nuts, clamps around the torsolastic and closes the cracks, was wondering if it would be as good as replacement of torsolastics? I know about welding over cracks , but you melt some of the rubber when this is done. Ofcourse there is alot of rubber there. I bought some band aids from a guy out in Ca. a few years ago who developed them and rebuilt Torsolastics and had 2 40' Vans full of Eagle Torsolastic, and had the tooling to build them. I think he past away and i told Craig at Eagle Bus about him and i don't know if Craig bought all of it from his wife? Thanks for your response Boomer |

Band Aids?...Buses?....some how doesn't seem to meld; at least with me. Small wonder folks don't want to "pay" a decent price for a coach. Relax, folks...just don't see much "exciting" just now on this board...thought I'd "stir up" some commentary,,,,,,OR? RCB |

The "band aids" are exactly what you are refering to with the 8" pipe split in 2 lenghtwise. 6 bolts are with ( three on each side) in a set of "spacers" that allow the grade 8 nuts and bolts to be able to "bolt together" the pipe to "clamp" over the torsolastics. This will keep them from splitting or cracking at the welds, which is where the torosolastics give way. I do not believe they do anything for the height. It allows full use of the tosolastics and also allows any adjustments that may be needed. Welding is NOT the way to go. I would certainly reccomend these to anyone with an 01, especially if there is no problem. This is just prudent alternative maintence. Other wise, what do you do if or when they do crack? Vern |

The rear axle torsalastics on our 01 are at their max adjustment. Since there are none available, I'll probably add a couple of air bags to each side to help help them out. |
