My old 65 GMC fishbowl doesnt want to get up. The front air bags (all four) are not filling up. Is this because of the "height valve"? I have never fooled with the suspension.....help! |

Hello Lonnie How much air pressure on the gauge? Any sounds of leaking air underneath anywhere? Try with engine off too. Can you see the height control valve? Is the arm still intact? Are the bags soft and empty, or are they filled and trying? How long was it parked before trying to air it up? Any other changes to the coach air system recently? By recently, I mean in operating hours, not calendar. Did you try to move it? Sometimes convinces stuck things to unstick. happy coaching! buswarrior |

Hey Lonnie! Welcome to the board!! I have a '61 Fishbowl, that after having sat in the desert for a few years, did the same thing. She would stand up slightly on the rear, but not at all on the front end. The best remedy I found for a sleepy coach was to pump it up manually and then drain both the front and rear tanks. I did this at least half a dozen times - if not more, and also mixed in some road time. After a day or two, I went out to fire her up - expecting to have to manually air her up, and to me surprise, she stood all the way up on her own!! I haven't had any problems since. Just one busnut's remedy. I'm sure others with more experience can offer other solutions as well. Good Luck! Josh |

Lonnie, First off, do not go under an aired up air ride bus, or between the tires and the wheel wells without blocking it securely at the jacking points!!!!! Now, welcome. Your bus should stand up with about 80 psi in the brake reservoirs. The front leveling valve is in the middle of the coach, attached to the body, with the arm attached to the front axle. The arms come loose regularly, and a leak in an air bag will prevent the whole front from rising. BW's comment about listening for leaks with the engine off, after airing the bus up is the way to find a leak. Just don't get squished! G |

I just recently had a rear bag air up problem with my GMC 4104 which turned out to be the small check valve at the air intake port was clogged. A bit of solvent and air on both sides of the valve soon cleared it up. Even if it has to be replaced it couldn't cost very much. It is about the size of your little finger. |
