Has anyone ever replaced the flooring in a gmc, particularly the rear. What is involved? Is it all done underneath. How big a job is it. Thanks |

I've replaced the floor in the front and am currently working on the rear. You must replace it with comparable plywood and it is very important to use the same bolts and number of bolts as original. The floor supplies part of the structural integrity. I decided to replace the floor in the rear because the alum. sheet underneath was damaged. If not for that I may not have done it. You won't be able to get 1 peace in like original because, I think they put it in before putting in the walls. It would be best to use 5' wide plywood so it will reach the existing stringers, but I haven't been able to find any locally and the shipping cost have kept me from ordering any as of yet. John |

I was looking for 5x8 for my RTS floor, and found that 5x8 plywood is available special order from lumberyards-- it is actually made for pooltables. I priced some out and they wanted $90 a sheet for 3/4" thickness. (I was able to make do with 4x8's...) |

You might consider visiting a cabinet shop or cabinet shop supplier for "Baltic Birch." It is very tight, smooth, solid and comes in 5X5 sheets. |
