Nobody knows this until they find out.

So, do you wonder what other secrets your coach has?

happy coaching!

I still havent figured out that box thing bolted in first compartment because i havent unbolted it yet. Sometimes da book doesnt tell you anything. Hell, ive been trying to find a schematic of the duct systems fo a while. It is the only thing i can think its part of.

i have most everything done on mine. i just installed puck lights over the passenger seats and dinette and 2 licence plate l.e.d lights from walmart right over my head as driver lights so i can read if i need to withought turning on the ugly light that is there now. then i hooked up a sony dvd player under the microwave shelf so the wife and kid have something to watch barney on. any-one have a idea for a cheap screen to hook on to a seat back/front? i burnt the other one up somehow so there is a red line down the center of it.

Bill -
Is the "box" in the center of the bay, against the rear bulkhead and about as wide as the mechanical tunnel above? If so, that's your auxiliary fuel tank.

Your loved ones should be watching the big, never ending picture out the big front and side screens with you. That's why you travel, to bring your family together away from daily life. If you make it so they can watch movies en route, you will become the chauffeur and they will be the bored passengers who's only care will be "are we there yet?" When our son got to the point where he would only play video games and wouldn't interact, I left him home.
(We made the mistake of letting him get that far.)

my boy is 14 month old and needs some distraction of barney to get him through his cranky moods. a 10 hour trip in a car seat can be trying on a small child. and the wife hates my guts for buying the bus in the first place...

Bill that thing in the front bay bloted to the rear bulkhead, please read the plackards on top of the left of the sterring wheel! One tells how to release emg. (parking brake) the other is size of fuel tank or tanks, open fuel door and there is/was a plackard stating gallons/liters. IF yours states 179gallons the THING is the 35 gallon fuel tank, large lines under bus for fuel flow to/from tank, also when you look at the top of fuel tank the vent for said tank is connected. I did not drill or screw anything to the shield/guard of that tank. Normal fuel size 144gallons, some had 35gallon aux/added so two sizes. If you have 179 check guards under bus for damage from road hazzards. This bus adventure is a fun diversion from the mondaine.

Ah, sorry Thomas. I did not realize how young your son is. Mine is 23. You are on the good end of the time line. From 5 to 14 should be good years. Then most become people you don;t want near you for about 7 years.

I hope your wife will come to love going on trips in time. It grows on you and you miss it when you have a "tripless period".

This is one of the very good things about having a manual for your bus, it has all kinds of interesting information!!

Mine had a tire int here when I got it. Plenty of tread, but a 1974 date code as well. For now I carry air in that compartment.

Have one in mine, never checked the date of mfg, but it does hold air. I have 12/22.5 on the bus, so the spare might be smaller? I remember reading here once that the bigger tires won't fit the bay?? Guess I'll have to check sometime this summer...

We removed ours. We put in a slide out tray for our power cords and water hoses. In case of a flat while on the road, we call road service and if neccessary, can use a tag wheel to limp in to a tire shop. Just "Our Way", YMMV Jack

We have the 12/22.5 in ours and it is new but not on a rim yet. I like Jack's idea with the slide tray.

12 years and never carried a spare, 11R24.5's will not fit anyway. Makes a great storage area and I have 8 tires that will crack befor they wear out and i don't need another.

I have a spare and wheel now but plan to get rid of the wheel.

Good Sam road service will mount the tire for me if I ever need it.

If I need to get into the spare compartment it won't be so much work hustling that heavy wheel and all that compressed air.

My AMGeneral transit bus was from Portland, Or and did not have A/C in it. I discovered an enclosed compartment behind the right rear wheel with no access to it. So I cut the aluminum skin out and low and behold there was a compartment that is about 14" wide x 22" tall x 24" deep. What is the kicker is that it had the air conditioning receiver/dryer in it (rather large) that had never been used! Then when I was removing the heater, the air conditioning evaporator was also installed, but never used! Imagine the extra cost of the receiver/dryer and the evaporator being installed and not used? Needless to say, I have a nice compartment for my oils and coolants. Good Luck, TomC
