Thomas,

I don't have the Gabriel #s but can give you the OEM #s: Front: 5527272; Rear: 5527271. perhaps they can cross-reference them.

Another way to figure our what you have would be to look a the existing shocks. There should be a part # stamped on them.

Just curious, are you doing the front shocks, the rear shocks, or all. It caught my eye when you mentioned they are sending you four shocks. On my 4104, there are four shocks at the rear axel. I would have guessed the 4106 was the same.

WEW4104, What year is your o4? mine is a 57 and it has only one per wheel. Wondering if it may have been added on as per PO?

My 4104 is a 1959, and I don't think it was owner modified in that regard, so I checked my GM COACH MAINTENANCE MANUAL. Section 14, page 221 has a drawing of the rear axle set up just the way mine is. Two air bags and two shocks, at EACH of the rear wheels.

I'm not saying the '06s are necessarily set up the same way. But since an 8V71 isn't any lighter than a 6-71, it would surprise me a bit to find out that GM changed to less shocks.

EDIT: By the way, one of the rear shocks is mounted in front of the axel (but behind the front air bag). The other is behind the axel (but in front of the rear air bag). Wondering which is not present on Gomer's 57.

Wec: Mine has only one shock on the rear. It is mounted behind the axle and the top is about centered on the beam. It wasn't hard to get off when I replace the air bags and plates.

Oh OK...if nobody tells any of the rest of the 4106 owners that it was ME that broke the code of silence.
....I checked "Da Book" and it shows part numbers for a left & a right PAIR of shocks in the REAR SUSPENSION nomenclature section (14-25) ... Parts #5527271 and #5527272.
The 5527272 is the same number used for the FRONT shocks ONLY, there is a warning about the differences between the rears & the fronts.
Looking at the only diagram of the rear axle available in either of the 2 books, there is only a single shock mount on each side of the rear axle.
This sure would have been easier if I had mine aired-up so I could peek under it....my best recollection is that there are only 2 shock total on the rear, I remember knowing that I only needed to buy 4 when I replaced the fronts, & then went the cheap way.
