I have no idea how this happened but an email from Facebook using my page was sent to many people today. DO NOT OPEN, It is a virus! I have not been to my Facebook page for days, so I have no idea how this happened. After having a couple more minor problems in the past with Facebook and viruses, worms, trojans, etc. and to prevent any problems in the future I have de-activated my Facebook account. I keep my 'normal' email seperate from other networking sites. I simply setup another email account dedicated for each networking site. Good thing I did - I'm constantly bombarded with spoof spam on my 'normal' email. Loads easier to detect the fake stuff & trash that way. I occasionally check the various in boxes to see if I have missed anything. So far, it is working well. Easier to tell where the crap comes from too. Good Sam was the worst, they provided my email name to about a billion spammers (Message edited by kyle4501 on April 09, 2010) |

My wife got an email message that someone had commented on her facebook page. When she opened the email, the KOOBFACE worm immediately infected her pc. the problem is in the email. If you get that message, DO NOT OPEN. Instead, go directly to your facebook page and check your messages. Or..get out of facebook as suggested above. I have CA Security Suite and did not pick up virus on email. It did quarantine and delete the virus after infection. |
