Have you been getting bombarded with those pesky POP-up ads? - A guy at work told me about a program called NO Ads. you can find it at http://www.southbaypc.com/NoAds/ and so far it has worked great. It is free, you install it and it comes with some preprogramming to cut pop up ads. If a pop up comes on screen, you double click the tray to bring up the NO ADS screen, find the ad in the top list and click on the button to add the ad to the hit list. So far it is great, but with any program watch what you do. There is a section that lets you put in your own stuff to deny. if you type in something that makes the internet explorer a target, the browser wont open. So just stay to the highlighting of the window. It even counts the hits that it kicks off of your screen, so far it is great. Ya All gotta give this a try if the POP UPS are buggin you. cd |

I use Popup Manager (freebie) www.endpopups.com I have been using it since the middle of January. I like it, it works so I think I will send in a donation. The pop-up manager sure makes surfing the internet a whole lot easier. I've gone to sites that had so many pop-ups that I couldn't see what was on the site. Now I get a little "E" in the corner of my screen. Once I counted 5 little "E"s which meant that I had 5 popups blocked at the same time. I seem to get the multi-pop-ups mostly at the sites that are hosted for free. Lorna |

We use Zonealarm Plus as our firewall program. It handles the popup ads if you set it to. It also blocks attempts to get into your system. It's suprising how many times that happens. |

If you use Netscape as a brower you can turn pop-ups off. |

Cory, Thanks for the tip. I installed it a few days ago, and popups have virtually disappeared within a few days use. As I continue to add popups to the target, the number of new popups has significantly decreased and I suspect that within a couple of weeks they will almost be a thing of the past. Again, thanks for a very good tip. Richard |

Tom, Click Edit -> Preferences. Under the submenu 'Advanced' click on 'Scripts and Plugins'. There should be a large box that has a bunch of checkmarks, and at the top it will say: (check) Allow scripts to open unrequested windows. Uncheck that, and you are good to go. (based on mozilla 1.2.1, a netscape twin.) |
