Anybody heard of or used Shark Hide Metal Protector? Sounds like it might work well on polished aluminum as well as other things. |

I know I just can't help myself. it's all Gus's fault, my world was fine with my Kano Kroil but he had to upset that with mouse milk. |

I could dream up another fictional portrayal of Shark Hide Metal Protector, equal to my Mouse Milk piece but it is Sunday and my Shingles are acting up, besides ironic comedic fiction sometimes is received as fact.....so I'll just pass on this one. |

George, Is that sweetened condensed mouse milk or is it fresh off the vine stuff? Maybe they'll come out with it as a nonfat powdered mouse milk product! |

I was amused at the mouse milk and all comments and thought I would add that I used it to free turbo waste gates and exhaust bolts and nuts on aircraft systems. As to the shark hyde how about some armadillo hyde, it is free for just coming to My place and killing the yard deystroying B***d's. John L |

Dallas. Gus would be the expert on mouse milk, I am just a sucker for amusingly named products, if they come out with a low fat version I'm in line for a box or two. Jack your are correct I do believe Dallas must be just a tad of kilter here, in an amusingly sort of way. |

Les why such little faith in the ability of this board to help out Shadowman with his to purchase or not to purchase dilemma. some other member may yet pop in with experience using shark hyde and we will all benefit from what appears to be amazing stuff. and in the meantime a little levity never hurt anyone and I think we are doing a good job of keeping Dallas's friends occupied. John call me crazy but I always wanted an armadillo for a pet. not to mention my Dachshund carie would love to play ball with it |

George, You can stop by here anytime and pick up your choice of 'dillo's. I spend half the summer shooting them Next to the wild hogs, they do more damage than just about any other animal. By the way, 'dillo's can also carry Hansons Disease, AKA: Leprosy. As for the Sharkhide Metal Protectant, IT says it's not for large metal surfaces, and it also says that for removal you only need a brush, paper towels, a spray bottle and lacquer thinner. Sounds like it's not much more than a polyurethane suspension or something similar. |

I wasn't looking to buy any, i just thought that the GM guys that wanted to polish their aluminum and keep it looking good for more than a year or so would be interested in it. My 5A has stainless that was polished about 25 years ago,...... all i have to do is wash it once in awhile. :>) And i appreciate the humor! |

Dallas you can keep your lepperdillos. carrie will be heart broken though she was looking forward to a fetch buddy. Ed maybe those squirrels will do. I seen her catch one once but there wasn't much left after playtime was over. |

George, I used to have a Huskie who thought juggling a mouse was just the best time of all! AND Ed...JFYI us GM owners are blessed with Clear Anodized Aluminum....so polishing is a no-no, a light buff w/no abrasive is all it takes. |

Jack since the front of my bus was blackened cajun style my aluminium panel in the front is discoloured I will have to polish it out and I wonder if this snarkhyde ( sorry John ) would be something I should consider, or perhaps an epoxy clear coat? I would consider painting all the panels as a last resort. there are other sections of the alloy that will need some body work as well so maybe my choices are limited. P.S mouse juggling is quite an impressive skill Jack. carries play time talent is limited to shredding. it's a dachshund thing. |

How about buffing it out to a nice shine, and giving it a coat of clear satin polyurethane? The new urethane stuff is pretty damned tough, and it doesn't smell like an old Flounder.... errr.. Shark. |

OK George, here's how deeply I appreciate your problem, I'll solve it! FOr the sake of this post I'll reveal one of my past lives, I used to design & fabricate artifacts for museums, collectors & brokers out of acrylic (plexi-glas or Perspix). ANY minor flaw in material, construction or workmanship would render the effort thus far worthless, I had to throw every pitch across the plate in the middle of the strike zone...so to speak AND being human I made errors (3 to be exact but that's another thread) and the real trick was to HIDE the errors in plain sight. Errors come in 3 varieties, no problem, OH-oh, & JFC. Now to the crux of your problem....when I made a JFC it took a special kind of polish that could dig deep BUT not leave any marks...a dozen promises later I found a product on my own called Granitize Sea Shell Polish, it is sold to shops & jobbers not retail. A can of this magic is a whole 6 bux no co-signers needed AND I happen to be going next door to the supplier twice next week....I get a can and send it along & save you some elbow grease just 'cuz you have a good sense of humor but mostly as a way to give you some more time to spend petting that poor unloved, underfed & forlorn canine whose picture you keep torturing us animal lovers with each time we come to this horrible place looking for bad advice. Drop me a note with your addy & I'll send you the can of Yellow Snot.....you're gonna need a couple of bundles of Dollar General's wash cloth's....or a dang good excuse for your partner! |

Hey Jack.... Great on that polishing compound, but Mr. Ed wants to know what kind/type of coating should be used on top of it, to keep the aluminum from oxidizing all over again. Your suggestions for that, would be welcomed by anyone considering an aluminum bus. . (Message edited by john_mc9 on May 07, 2010) |

Thank you kindly Jack you are a prince amongst men. but I have to contest that Carrie is pampered and spoiled beyond belief. she is slightly plump which is not the best for dachies her food is prepared at home not store bought. and she can have all the critters she catches and bring to the door. I will change the picture so that you can see Susie she is a full figured gal. big is beutifull |

"what kind/type of coating should be used on top of it, to keep the aluminum from oxidizing all over again. " Because it would be practically impossible to clear anodize panels already installed on a coach...... There are 2 ways (in my book) to preserve the shine. A polymer wax like coating applied with a rag.....my favorite is Polymer Wet Coat by the same people that make the Sea Shell Polish OR Krylon Acrylic Clear coat in a rattle can. The problem with either is that they require re-application, wet coat twice a year OR every other year for the Krylon. There is just no equal to clear Anodizing or clear powder-coating. |

There are brands of Carbuna wax that last a year, and give no problems with either removal or re- waxing. FF |
