On my MC8 there are two slider windows. One is up front on right and the other is in back on left. It would have been fantastic if they did this to all the windows. It seems by the measuring i did, the windows are interchangeable. To keep the factory sliding window scheme, would it be fesable to do this? I know a lot of people have skinned and then put Rv windows in but i would like to keep it the way it looks and keep it simple. Any one care to comment on this. Slider windows would be nice on just about all windows. The other thing, why would they put one in front and one in back. I noticed schoolies have windows that open up in every window section. Maybe thats one of their attractions, i dont know. |

By the way, i know there must be some kind of trivia why the put a slider window up front and one in back. What gives, suction power from front to back? Hmmm. |

Bill they call that flo-thru ventalation. Some buses have a/c problems and they open the front and rear windows,70mph and you will have a problem keeping your hat on. Someone posted on here about opening the original bath window and it would smell all the way thru the coach.Especially when they smoked one. Thought I was going to say something else huh! LOL Gomer |

For what it's worth.... (I dunno, send me ten bucks)...... Motion Windows makes replacement inserts that fit your existing frames. You can order double or single pane, tinted, untinted, gas filled or not, and they all come with screens that slide, as do the windows. www.motionwindows.com . |

Hello Bill. A few ramblings: Some fleets optioned the two sliders, front and rear. And many fleets did not. They do provide a draft through the coach at speed. However, it is not sufficient if the coach is full of passengers, under an AC failure. First line coach companies do not consider it acceptable to run a coach without HVAC and will rent a replacement coach, pay to immediately repair their own coach away from home, or some combination, if unable to quickly supply one of their own. The trouble for an operating fleet, if a passenger opened one of these windows even a crack, the air conditioning/heating system was all but overwhelmed by the massive air exchange. Try to get some knob in the back seat to close the window from the driver's seat going down the highway... and the back seat is where the most resistant of your passengers will be found... If I remember correctly, an opening of only a few square inches will defeat the 80 000 BTU of AC on a hot day in these coaches. And the windows would get left open through the bus wash... Also, if they slide easily by hand, a moderate brake application will open it, once the catch has been broken, if it had one. As for opening that little flap in the washroom, all things being up to snuff, if the HVAC is turned on, the air gently goes out under way, enough to drag the smoke out, only if the smoking apparatus and the exhaled smoke is kept in the outgoing draft, it won't pull the smoke out from the whole space. However, the flow can accidentally come in, depending on the strength of a complementary cross wind, the setting of the fresh air controls for the driver and defroster (closed will promote easier air intrusion, open will defend against it, as those air sources are ram air from above the bumper) and the tightness of the rest of the coach seals. If the driver opens the toll window at any time, or under any operating configuration, the air comes in from the washroom and every other crack or crevice and the air flow is back to front, of whatever odours may be present. The washroom has no opening to the outside in the post 102D models, nor in the H model Prevost. Busnuts get into all sorts of trouble with smells and ventilation issues, when they start defeating the stock features of their coach. Sealing up the front of the coach, removing the stock HVAC, adding opening windows... there is a real suction put on every available source of incoming air that was not present in the stock coach... the gray/black water system venting being the one that gets noticed in a hurry... happy coaching! buswarrior |

Back in the day, smoking was allowed in back of the bus. Maybe the sliders were put there for that purpose? Anyway, ordering windows is not in the budget. Not right now anyway. Being in the retail business during this economy isnt too good. Bad enough that i am working six days a week to keep overhead down. Soooo... i dont get to try out my hobby anytime soon. I guess i could take it for a drive on my only day off but then i wouldnt get any bus work done. I would have to secure all the tools and materials from flying off the counters and stuff. And dang it, i dont have air conditioning yet either because i had to spend da money on a frikin hot water heater! Air flow would be nice. |

All 8 of the original windows on my 68 5A could open. And yes the bus had ac when it was in service. |
