hey all, i am trying to diagnose a problem, my headlights and tail lights do not work, i have been doing some work on the tails, (because the back corner of the coach was damaged). i do have some wires loose back there, but nothing that i feel would have shorted out. anyways, i am trying to locate the main breaker/fuse for the lights, according to the manual it should be in the AC box in the front cargo area, however it's not there, i have an MC9 manual with an MC8 coach, so i suspect this could be why it's inaccurate, can anybody guide me to the right direction to find this fuse/breaker? after a little more research i found it's only the BRAKE and headlights that are not working, signals, and running lights function fine. |

I would check again for a short at the rear brake lights, and/or for the proper type bulb in the brake light socket. Try disconnecting the wires from the brake bulb sockets, and see if the short clears. The breaker will trip with a short, and should re-set when the short is removed. The brake lights and headlights may be on the same circuit, since both can be on without the rest of the system. |

This may have no bearing on an MCI but regarding the headlights, on my GM, it has a fog light switch next to the dimmer. If I accidently hit that, it kills my head lights. |

Terry, On my MCI9 the headlight relay and other electrical controls are in a panel just below the drivers side window. Open the outer door, then you will find a inter door that opens down wards. Inside ther you will find all sorts of interesting things. Glad you found your problem. When I am driving at night my head lights will go out and come back on for no apperant reason. |

Roger If your lights are going off and on for no apparent reason, I believe you might have an intermittant open or a circuit that is protected by a thermal breaker(fuse) that resets itself after cooling off, caused by drawing too much current. Joe. |

Roger I donot know because I donot have any manuals for a mc9. If you have a manual with a schematic diagram you might try to trace back from the headlights as a starting point. Good hunting!!!! Joe. |

Joe is right about the over load. I had the same problem with my 5 when I went from the old incandescent bulbs to quartz halogen headlights The circuit breaker in my 5 is in the panel to the left of the driver. I had to change it to a slightly heavier breaker If you haven't added any extra load to the head light circuit then you might start looking at each connection for corrosion before changing the thermal breaker. I found my breaker by listening for it. Good luck Les |
