Good Morning
I was hoping to gather some advice from those on the board that have made this trip or close to it. I purchased a car ( no bus yet !)and wanted to fly to Dallas and drive it back.
I have 3 days , the wife ( reluctantly ) is coming with me and I wanted to see some land marks - We 're not much for the tourist type places . We prefer some hiking areas and historical places Thanks in advance.

If you really have only three days, the only landmarks you will see are from your car window, and the only hiking you will likely do is to and from rest area facilities.

The most direct route from Tom Bean to Baltimore is over 1,350 miles and nearly 22 hours of driving at the speed limit. Add to that for the inevitable construction, traffic delays, etc, and you will be behind the wheel a minimum of eight hours each of the three days. On top of that, the average car will require four fuel stops on the trip, and with routine potty breaks plus a meal stop, you'll be on the road for nine hours or so each day; more if you make breakfast and dinner stops separate from your end-of-day stops.

I would think if any of us suggested even a single stop to you that is not immediately at an exit already on that direct route, it would blow your three-day schedule right out of the water.

We would take at least seven days to make that same trip, and I could prattle on for days about what stops to make in that kind of time. But then I would also be suggesting different roads from the Interstates, too.

FWIW.

Well...you're 2/3rd's of the way there....
1-You come here
2- that proves you fulfill the "Nuts" requirement
3- you need a BUS!

.....MONEY...
It's nothing more than a substitute for sweat & ingenuity anyway
AND
(despite what Fred would lead to to believe ;) )
Money's value is vastly over rated, even the Chinese will tell you that!
A dollar won't even buy a nickel candy bar any more
(no I'm not from Sudbury)

Look...
if a 19 yr. old kid
can trade his way from a single button
into a house in 13 months
a Prevost for a dime isn't out of the question
....remember you just have to be & act... NUTS.
...and keep coming back for more !

looks like the idea may not work ,
limited time / family issues - (wife hates driving) ,she prefers to have the a/c on ( i want widows down) car doesn't have a/c -
( wife hates driving ), i m thinking its a great idea ,( wife hates driving) , I work all week , some saturdays ,turning 50 end of the month - thought it would be something different to do,( wife hates driving)
Thought it would be fun to see parts of the county haven't seen before ( wife hates driving)
The unit is 40 years old - its possible there could be a issue mechanically - ( I 'm sure its all under warranty .....)
( wife would hate me and the driving)

So I 'll wait for delivery - pay the truck driver his cash and spend the memorial day weekend putzn around cleaning and tinkering
with it - maybe a car show in Ocean City Md

so I'll pay to have it transported $600 +-

Uncle Ned
apologies - after searching for a bit and realizing a bus is not in the picture (yet) I spent $1800.00 on a 1972 mercedes benz 280 se.
White 4 door gray interior with a very well done chevy v-8 conversion. Purchased from a fellow "car nut" down in Texas .
He had a few cars and his health issues forced him to " thin the herd".
This history on the unit - Texas car all its life - conversion done by regional GM service manager - crate motor / trans with differential upgraded from 300se.
Its quoting now " a fast fun car to drive" less than 20k on the drive line .
its nothing I 'm in love with - just thought it was a good price
well put together unit , something to "tinker " with have a little fun with.
someday a 4104 or 4106 .......

i tried to post a pic but there too big

Like Sean said, lots of driving time! Now check and see IF I-40 is open from Texas to I-81, had some closures due to the last flood. We just to arrived at the house at 130pm today here in central Pa. Left Phonex Az. May 4 900am., did not do I-40,east of Oak city, did 44 toll to 270 to I-70 to Pa. toll at exit 58 than off at exit 226..... But you check I-40 first, OH we had the bus only did 2250miles.. more on that adventure later.
