Does anyone have any idea as to what is involved to separate the air bag system from the air system on a MCI 102A. My bus barn door is lower than the height of the bus by 2 inches. The bus lowers 4.5 inches when air is down.

Roy,
How about a 6 inch piece of wood Trim at the top of the Barn door with a few hinges across it that you can open up when you open the doors. Seem a lot less involved eh.

mine can be isolated in the compartment under the driver. Unfortunately it is a 4905; yours may be different. You will want to think about installing a manual leveling system to accomplish this on a regular basis. The first time I pulled my 4905 into the one bay of my shop, the center roof air cleared by a credit card thickness(no exaggeration). I have since regraded that area of gravel driveway; it now clears by about 1 1/2 inches. When my father purchased a Chevy Adventureliner step van motorhome,(pre GMC4104 days) he modified the upper area of the overhead door trim and support and attached hinges. Gave him about 6 extra inches and you couldn't see it from outside unless you looked close.

You have a choice,

you need a way to manipulate the height control valve mounting, in order to fool the leveling valves to lower the coach onto the axle stops.

or

you need to source some pneumatic valves to change the height inline with, parallel to or completely replace the stock height control valves.

Search the archives for leveling systems and you will have lots of reading of various strategies you might like.

Quick and dirty would be to be able to knock the height control rods off their mounts with a stick so you don't have to go under there and get squished.

Be sure that you understand the defences to being a crushed busnut!

happy coaching!

Roy
You can order the leveling system from Pete Papas in FL and have a system that lets you lower the coach to get in your garage and also lets you level your coach in a campground. It is listed in the BNO classified under suspension and axles. Pete is a great guy to deal with.
