Thought i would stir the pot a little here and ask a dumb question perhaps. I have a gas generator and need to place some portable gas cans somewhere. Safe to put in the compartments? They need to be portable for easy refill. I did think of putting a regular gas tank somewhere but where? |

Wherever you store the cans, remember that gasolene fumes are heavier than air. Make sure the bottom of the compartment is vented and no ignition sources nearby. Jack |

On the 4104, they had a gas tank between front axle and body(space at rear of axle to body.) It held about 28 gallons and had a filler neck just to rear of wheel well on pass side, behind an access door. |

Thomas, thats what i have. Is it safe to store in the bay? Right now it is next to the generator in the old AC door which is well ventalated. Still dont know though if that is safe or not. The portable generators usually have the gas tank mounted right on top of the sucker. Sooo.. i figured, right next to the generator wouldnt hurt. Any other opinions? |

6 gal outboard tanks do not vent , unless a screw in the fill cap is loosened. The steel ones will hold the pressure of evaporating fuel . This is a great setup as the fuel NOT used on a camping trip can be put in the family car , so there is no problem from attempting to store the Fed mandated alcohol laden fuel for very long. FF |
