I recently checked in on Google Earth and found they had updated the overhead view of my house... You can clearly see my bus in the driveway and my new shop in the back yard. This had to be taken within the last few months. . |

The date the photo was taken should be shown in the lower left corner of the shot. Last time ours was visible was a couple of years ago, and we've moved since then. Nice compound you have there! Paul PS I really like your coach, very sweet! |

Yes, nice red coach. Is that a trailer (upper left) next to the house? (I assume that the building in the upper left is your house and the structure in the center is your shop -- or are you married????) |

When I look up our home address on Google, the street view shows both of my sister's RVs in the back yard. Only happened once that they were both here at the same time, for our sons graduation. Don 4107 |

The structure in the upper left is my shop with the trailer next to it... I'm not married (never been) My son is the only one living with me at this time. You can just make out the motorcycle in the front of the house. It's probably my dog peeing behind the shed.... . |

Yeah, the little structure in my GE photo is the house; the big one is garage/shop. Wimmins don't get impressed. |

...plant buses, let the grass seed itself. Looks as if you need another bus for that big driveway. |

Austin, how did you get such a clear and small picture to post? If I zoom in closer tha about 4000 ft, it goes all grainy. And how do you select a square to cut or copy? I do not see such controls on G E. |

Jim, not all areas are available in the "close up" neighborhood view. I can look at towns 60 miles from me, but in the woods where I live they have never done the close up stuff. Good thing too, they would probably make me get rid of 1/2 my junk! John |

First I "captured" the window with my PhotoStudio software. Then I used my PhotoStudio software to crop down to just my house. Then I re-sized it to allow it to be uploaded to this forum. |

Nice job, it has to be a very high resolution sattelite to allow that much enlargement and manipulation. It's almost scary how much they can see. John |

You can also use Snipping Tool, it came with my MS Vista Business. It works slick, cropped or full page. It has the editing feature built in. Drag the crosshairs and save as. (Message edited by dreamscape on June 02, 2010) |

John, they are able to read the headlines on a newspaper if they want to. They limit how much we can see. |

Paul Lawry wrote "You can also use Snipping Tool, it came with my MS Vista Business." Also for Windows (any I've ever used but I'm not a computer guru), you can open "Paint" under "Accessories", then go to your browser (or anything, like a photo viewer), hold down the "Fn" or "Function" key and press the "Prt Scrn" key. Go back to "Paint" and hit "Crtl/V" and it will paste into Paint. It will include margins, toolbars etc. but those are easy to edit out/off. Then you can save the photo itself or any part of it under many different photo/graphic file types. (Of course, for Google Earth, you'll need to set the photo where you want it, zoom in or out, etc.) All this is included in Windows, no extra software packages to buy, install, download, etc. This also works for other things. Say I want a photo of a brake valve. I go to the website for the manufacturer. I could hit "Save File" but that would give me a big PDF file; if I only want the photo, I just do the Fn/PrtScrn keys and copy the "clipboard" via Cntl/V to Paint. Then I edit the photo and save it, copy it to word processing file or whatever. |
