I have purchased a fuel sending unit and gauge and I need some advice on installing. I need to drill an inch and a half hole to put the sending unit into the tank. Does anyone know if there are baffles in these tanks. I have picked out an area that I can reach with a right angle drill and dont want to be in the middle of a baffle. Thanks |

Jim; I drove an 06 and it had a sending unit cap already on the tank. Look closely on top of the tank and see if you see a plate with 5 screws in it and if it is that is where you can install the sending unit. On my 04 there was a cap installed in the back of the tank on top and I had to squeeze between the floor and tank, bend the arm on the sending unit and straighten it out after getting it down in the hole. Make all adjustments before you do this. measure the height and follow the diagram given with the unit. I do believe there are a hole in it before you drill. Gomer |

Have you studied the tank enough to be sure that there is no sender hole near the fill pipe? You would be looking for a round piece of metal held in by five small screws. Just thought that I would ask because these things are standard configurations for many parts. For what it's worth. Tom Caffrey PD4106-2576 Suncatcher Ketchikan, Alaska |

Yes there is baffels. I did mine close to the end where the fill neck is. I took off the fill neck and had a small bowl with duck tape in it to catch the chips. My hand would fit in the tank with the bowl. I used my other hand to drill

Gee guys, my 4104 had a sender port as you described with a blank cover. It is nearer to the middle of the tank so kinda hard to reach without sliding the tank out half way. (No big deal if empty.) There were factory wires run from the dash back to the tank but never used. The 4106, being a lot newer definitely should have an install port. The screw holes and the sender are not equally spaced so it fits just one way so the float won't hit the bulkhead. I adjusted the float arm before installing so when it reads empty I still have about 150 miles. And...although I would take pains to keep them out, a few steel chips won't hurt anything. They don't float and won't rust. But if you accidentally drop the thin plastic seal from a bottle of fuel treatment in the tank, it WILL wander around in there and every once in a while block off the pickup. When the engine stops it will fall off again. "Don't ask me how I know." |

Thanks. I'll look closer before drilling. |

When I drilled my tank I put quite a bit of grease on my drill bit , drilled slowly , cleaned the bit off, put more grease on it , drill slowly again, repeat repeat until I was through. I beleive most of the filing stuck to the grease. Grant |
