Anybody Know;

Where I can order or buy (and whats a good Price for)a Fuel tank sending unit for a 1979 MCI 5C-s 144 gallon Tank. Already tested the MCI Gauge and it works fine except when hooked to the SU.

6V-71
Plus need exhaust manifold gaskets, I am near Sacramento, CA Area

Want to replace them all in the next few Months.
Thanks to any info you have.

Just a thought...pull the SU and see what's wrong, sometimes components just need a little love to start working again. Too many times I have purchased a replacement unlt to discover when I pull the part that a little emery paper here a little twist there and it's working again...also is it the SU or the wiring from the su to the gage?

Quite often the floats will leak. If the guage reads a constant "empty" that is where I would look first. When you hold the assembly in your hand, the float and arm will just fall to the bottom. You can replace the float, or drill a small hole in it, drain all fuel out, then seal the hole with epoxy, or something similar, or maybe solder if you are careful.

Thanks you guys for the good info. It was just old and needed to be worked like Patrick had mentioned.
The gauge always showed pegged or way past full -KEY OFF. Turn KEY ON and it dropped to empty.

Had a thought though; If I put in a toilet Float and hooked the fuel line to the black tank, I could run off the gas for a long time, Call it BIO-BURRITO, No just kidding.HA,HA,HA
