Does anyone know which port on a V730 goes to the IN port of the external filter housing??

I know the external filter is supposed to be plumbed into the Top and the Bottom ports on the transmission housing, but I don't know the fluid direction.

Dale,

On my Buff, the oil flows out the port on top of the torque converter housing, into the filter, and out to the port on the bottom of the converter housing.

Bob is right. According to the book the top of the convertor housing is connected to the filter "IN". The "OUT" of the filter housing is connected to the bottom of the convertor housing.

I don't know how I messed up, but I did. Mine is backwards.

I cut my filters when I do oil or fluid changes to check for trash and when I cut this one open the filter matter was blown outward towards the shell. That's when I started questioning my installation.

The last time out it didn't want to shift 2nd to 3rd and would only run 53mph. I'm hoping I just have trash in the governor or the screen is plugged up.

Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated.

Check your oil level. If you have a low oil sensor in the tranny it will inhibit the 2-3 upshift when it detects a low oil condition. It would pay you to clean the govenor screen and the govenor. The screen is located in the valve body section at the output end. It is under a 1/8" NPT plug. This is also a place to check the pump pressures. 130psi min at idle. 235psi in reverse.

Oil level is good. After I replumb the filter, I'm going to pull the govenor and the governor screen.

Also I'm going to check the low oil sensor while I've got the pan off. I've never had the pan off this trans, so I do want to check out the pickup screen.

Also discovered that I don't have any brake lights! UUGGGHH Whats next? LOL

Thanks, Dale

When you pull the filter off the tranny watch for the "O" ring on the intake tube.
i hope you have the books for the wiring diagrams.

I've got the books with all the wiring, but my switch ain't were they say it should be. LOL

Book says it behind the right signal light, but noooo there isn't any switch there. Won't fight it long before I plumb in my own switch. LOL

My stop light switch is near the rear relay valve for the spring brakes and near the foot valve for the normal stop light operation. I realize my coach is a 1965 but maybe similar to a 1974 unit. There is also a relay in the rear engine electrical box for the stop lights. It is mounted on the bottom of the electrical box. Like you said. Don't look long till you plumb in a new one. Easy to do but use a relay to carry the current for the stop lights.

Thanks Bill. I'll look there for the switch.

I found the relay and it's good, just not getting the trigger signal from the switch.
