Hi, We have the peninsula slider type windows in our bus and they are very hard to slide. What would be a good lubricant to put on the slide parts to make them easier to slide open and shut? It seems like any kind of grease will just attract dirt and grit. Thanks! | ||

Jim, check the bottom rubber in the window mine came loose and Jeff had to redo the seals and the slides. They are good windows but highly over rated in my book for the price you pay | ||

Jim, I have the same windows and I spray them with silicone with tefelon! I only spray it on the felt slides and not all over the glass and paint etc. One time a year keeps them working quite nicely. John L | ||

we use pledge polish cleaner then graphite but needs more after a rain | ||

We would like to put 4 sliders in the original diagonal front and rear windows on our 4107, but the price is way out of line with what we would want to invest. Are there other companies out there making equivalent products for less money? Thanks John | ||

John..I have several takeouts available. Have kept them over the years thinking some one could use them. Problem, of course is shipping. I rebuilt the ones I kept; shortened some, put new felt in all. They are not dual pane. about 69 inches long/28 inches high, parallelogram. If interested, let me know via PM. RCB | ||

Just a thought on using graphite. Graphite in contact with aluminum, particuarly trapped between joints can cause severe corrosion. Maybe not important to most but a real cause of problems in aircraft. John L. | ||

We just installed some double pane windows made by Hehr. My wife made the same comment, hard to open. I told her that is because they are new and the felt is still in good shape. I would think as they age, they will be easier to slide and at the same time let more air in when closed. I like them tight, it's when they are loose I'll begin to worry. I'm not going to put anything on them, might destroy the felt or window frame. They say the silicone spray is OK, I used it when I installed a new regulator on our 94 Lincoln. Coated the felt so the window would move easier. But I ain't doing it on the bus! Besides, my arms are getting a workout! (Message edited by dreamscape on June 16, 2010) | ||

I replaced all the windows on my 62 PD4106 with Penninsula glass tinted sliders on all sides. We use silicone spray about once a year and works fine. I searched for other alternative window replacements before deciding on these. I do not regret for a minute. They came out of the crate and fit perfectly. We love the screens so we get plenty of fresh air when we want it without the bugs. Yes they are a bit pricey, but quality and ease of installation is worth it to me. Also, they look great and enhance the overall appearance of the coach considerably. Depends on your priorities and your main reason for the coach, I guess. We use ours mostly for camping at bluegrass festivals and we love to be able to see out and get the fresh air. http://houndbus.shutterfly.com/550 |
